The Clintons' Legacy

President Clinton was out warming up the campaign audiences for Senator Clinton over the 2007 Labor Day weekend. It sent a chill down my spine when I watched snippets of the two pretending to be folksy and lovey-dovey.

They are quite a team and have more than just greed in common. Neither is ethical, principled, trustworthy, generous, spontaneous, nor noble. Excluding gender, one major distinction differentiates them: President Clinton is an amiable, amoral Democrat and Senator Hillary Clinton is an unpleasantly evil socialist running as a Democrat.

When the Monica escapade and impeachment hit the fan, President Clinton’s supporters claimed the nation was in good hands because he could “compartmentalize.” It’s obvious how he honed this skill. The couple’s marriage is as cold blooded and contrived as Hillary’s smile. They aren’t even friends. At best they are shrewd accomplices—business partners on a quest for the wealth that springs from power.

The nation forgave President Clinton for his sexual indiscretions as his legal mate reminded most onlookers of a woman who would bring a stop-watch to bed. This doesn’t justify his infidelity. But her role playing the “hurt little woman” was equally shameless. Granted, they are immune from shame because that human attribute requires a conscience. And that’s why they’re still hanging around.

Most believe that Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton was aware of his extra-marital dalliances. Many believe she welcomed them as an alternative to sharing a conjugal bed. Only the public exposure, which threatened her political ambitions, engendered her outrage and her crocodilian expressions of grief.

Illegal campaign finance shenanigans too numerous to count, Whitewater, the White House Travel Office affair, selling presidential pardons, selling restricted US technology to China, charges of sexual misconduct, the Waco, Texas massacre, hidden documentation, disbarment from practicing law, lying to a grand jury, and walking off with the gifts that foreign countries presented to the nation are all part of the Clintons' legacy.

They truly are a pair of miscreants. They deserve each other, but our nation deserves better.
