The Stark Aftermath
Are we to believe that Rep. Stark’s apology resulted from a sudden attack of personal remorse? Respectfully, that conclusion would even belittle the intelligence of the hopelessly naive. The DNC grabbed him by the throat and threatened his political extinction if he failed to apologize.
Nor was the episode a distraction. It was an unmitigated disaster, a neon attraction which unwittingly highlighted the leftwing’s primary goal—trade national security for entitlements.
It is one thing to tread on our flag in San Francisco, and quite another to be nationally televised spitting at the troops sitting on the front lines of the war against terrorism. No one should be surprised by Rep. Stark’s diatribe because he is a hero in California’s wacko-packed Thirteenth District.
Speaker Pelosi quickly realized the outburst yanked the camouflage off the Democrats’ socialist agenda, and uncovered their blueprint for failure in Iraq. She was sitting on a political calamity.
Don’t be surprised that Speaker Pelosi believed that she could dismiss the event with a smile and the flick of her wrist. Don’t be surprised that she actually believed the propagandists in the mainstream media could bury the story.
During her entire career she depended on the San Francisco Chronicle to cover, justify, forgive and run interference. It never let her down because it shared and promoted her values. Her reaction disclosed that she is still operating in that warp zone called San Francisco—America’s most renowned loony bin with great restaurants.
Be assured, Speaker Pelosi has never listened to the voices on talk radio. She has no clue, no conception, and no connection with Americans living between California and New York City. She can’t relate to people who have rigid moral codes, love their country, admire their military and expect to work for their daily bread.
She was safe in San Francisco, a protected species in the ultimate secular progressive sanctuary. Her ascendancy to the Speaker of the House has been a tough transition. It left her standing stark naked.
It would be naive to believe the Republicans were the big winners in this fiasco. Speaker Pelosi is not stupid. She will modify her tactics. Yes, she will continue to privately encourage vindictive attacks against Republican lawmakers. Any who rebuke her San Francisco inspired legislation, will be targeted by her cohorts.
Here is the difference. She will modify her response to these personal attacks by pretending to be the voice of reason. After carefully repeating the slander hurled by her comrades—in the event that someone missed it—she will question the wisdom of such speech.
She will be the voice of moderation and conciliation. It’s the perfect solution for a woman with a million dollar smile hoping to conceal a bankrupt agenda by raising slander to an art form. Trust she is up to the task because she was groomed in an ethics free zone.
