The Stark Aftermath

Well, well! Representative Peter Stark (D, CA) issued an apology for his dastardly remarks—without weaseling—to President Bush and our troops stationed in Iraq. Then, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), cleverly labeled his outburst and apology a “distraction.”

Are we to believe that Rep. Stark’s apology resulted from a sudden attack of personal remorse? Respectfully, that conclusion would even belittle the intelligence of the hopelessly naive. The DNC grabbed him by the throat and threatened his political extinction if he failed to apologize.

Nor was the episode a distraction. It was an unmitigated disaster, a neon attraction which unwittingly highlighted the leftwing’s primary goal—trade national security for entitlements.

It is one thing to tread on our flag in San Francisco, and quite another to be nationally televised spitting at the troops sitting on the front lines of the war against terrorism. No one should be surprised by Rep. Stark’s diatribe because he is a hero in California’s wacko-packed Thirteenth District.

Speaker Pelosi quickly realized the outburst yanked the camouflage off the Democrats’ socialist agenda, and uncovered their blueprint for failure in Iraq. She was sitting on a political calamity.

Don’t be surprised that Speaker Pelosi believed that she could dismiss the event with a smile and the flick of her wrist. Don’t be surprised that she actually believed the propagandists in the mainstream media could bury the story.

During her entire career she depended on the San Francisco Chronicle to cover, justify, forgive and run interference. It never let her down because it shared and promoted her values. Her reaction disclosed that she is still operating in that warp zone called San Francisco—America’s most renowned loony bin with great restaurants.

Be assured, Speaker Pelosi has never listened to the voices on talk radio. She has no clue, no conception, and no connection with Americans living between California and New York City. She can’t relate to people who have rigid moral codes, love their country, admire their military and expect to work for their daily bread.

She was safe in San Francisco, a protected species in the ultimate secular progressive sanctuary. Her ascendancy to the Speaker of the House has been a tough transition. It left her standing stark naked.

It would be naive to believe the Republicans were the big winners in this fiasco. Speaker Pelosi is not stupid. She will modify her tactics. Yes, she will continue to privately encourage vindictive attacks against Republican lawmakers. Any who rebuke her San Francisco inspired legislation, will be targeted by her cohorts.

Here is the difference. She will modify her response to these personal attacks by pretending to be the voice of reason. After carefully repeating the slander hurled by her comrades—in the event that someone missed it—she will question the wisdom of such speech.

She will be the voice of moderation and conciliation. It’s the perfect solution for a woman with a million dollar smile hoping to conceal a bankrupt agenda by raising slander to an art form. Trust she is up to the task because she was groomed in an ethics free zone.

Letter to My Granddaughter

Dear Madison,

The birth of a grandchild is an event that brings joy, hope and a lot of reflection. Your birth reconfirmed this. You are a family treasure.

Like any grandparent, I understand our age difference, time and every young person’s inclination to ignore advice will marginalize my influence. But that’s okay, because it’s natural. I’ve jotted down a few notes while remembering how much advice I ignored. Maybe, you’ll be smarter.

It’s a big universe out there. At times it will scare you, at times it will astonish you, at times you will feel abandoned by it and at times you will think you own it. That’s natural, so enjoy the good times and file the bad times in your memory for future reference.

People will tell you that you can learn from your mistakes. That’s true—failure offers that opportunity. And I can guarantee that you will make bad decisions and suffer the consequences.

Just keep in mind that it’s easier to learn from other people’s mistakes. Learning what works and doesn’t work through observation eliminates punishment, remorse and embarrassment—the penalties for bad decisions and misspent time. So be vigilant.

Of all the possessions you will acquire and treasure in your lifetime, there is only one that is important—your reputation. Always guard it because it’s not replaceable and is difficult to repair. Know that popularity is rooted in acquiescing to group standards. Don’t trade your integrity for the sake of being popular, as it will erode your sense of self-worth. So honor yourself.

Although I can’t prove it, there is a God. You’ll do just fine if you remember that God doesn’t negotiate. God endowed you with a free will and has been around long enough to know your behavior won’t be perfect. Your parents also understand this, although they will be reluctant to admit it.

All three have heard a lot of excuses and probably appreciate the really good ones. Just keep in mind that if you are smart enough to hide an indiscretion behind an excuse, you may dupe your parents, but God can’t be fooled. Always remember that deception and especially self-deception are games without winners. So respect God’s intelligence and be true to yourself.

By chance you were born in a country that offers a smorgasbord of opportunities. Without a good education, you will be restricted to a lifetime of sack lunches. Formal education is not a punishment perpetrated by parents on their children—although at times you will think so.

Education opens doors that turn dreams into reality. It’s the fuel that your future will run on. But be aware that education is a destination without a finish line. Diplomas are mile posts, not goals. So never stop learning.

You will hear a lot about love. It is not a commodity. Love is a bond without small print. It’s nurtured by patience, caring and understanding and carries no guarantees. It can be lost or betrayed. It can make you behave foolishly. Never confuse love with an obligation or a test, or you’ll suffer disappointment. Love requires practice. So begin slowly by loving yourself.

And remember that voting for a Democrat is usually bad because they despise personal initiative, love of God and your freedom to excel. Let your ethics and morality be your only boundaries. So vote Republican.

Senator Clinton, a Disaster in Wait

Representative Peter Stark (D, CA), the Chairman of the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, splashed a lot of mud on our military last week. He wasn’t pleased with President Bush’s veto of the State Child Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

In protest to the veto, he stated that President Bush sent US troops to Iraq to watch them die for his “own amusement.” This was Representative Stark’s rebuke for funding the Iraqi front against al Qaeda, rather than funding health care for an additional ten million, “poor children.”

And there at Rep. Stark’s left elbow stood a smiling Senator Hillary Clinton. Her support of this fellow member of the Weaken America Club dispels any doubts about her real political agenda.

In a follow-up interview, the House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), refused to condemn the remark. Her passive acceptance didn’t quell the uproar. Thus, Representative Stark issued the following written apology.

"I have nothing but respect for our brave men and women in uniform and wish them the very best," said Stark. "But I respect neither the Commander-in-Chief who keeps them in harms way nor the chickenhawks [sic] in Congress who vote to deny children health care."

The logical extension of his apology confirms that Representative Stark respects our military, even though he thinks they are too stupid to understand why they are in Iraq. It’s unlikely his apology uplifted the spirits of our military, but it does exemplify why Congress’ approval rating is nearly in single digits.

Representative Stark, speaking for his comrades, lashed out at our military and President Bush because he couldn’t defend the content of the revised SCHIP legislation.

He didn’t want to mention that five million of the ten million children were already eligible for the program.

He didn’t want to mention that the legislation defined a child as anyone under the age of 25.

He didn’t want to mention that the SCHIP legislation’s definition of a poor child included the children of families with incomes up to $82,000.

He didn’t want to mention SCHIP covered the children of illegal aliens to age 25.

He didn’t want to mention that President Bush agreed to accept similar legislation that calibrated the age and income qualifications to levels consistent with the program’s original intent.

He didn’t want to mention that the entire exercise was a ruse to extend national healthcare to the middleclass and debilitate private healthcare.

Representative Stark is an unabashed ultra left-winger. Ditto for Rep. Pelosi. But presidential candidate Senator Clinton masquerades as a centrist. If she is a moderate, then Presidents Harry Truman and Franklin Roosevelt were charter members of the Great Rightwing Conspiracy. Senator Clinton is a socialist. Her candidacy for president can only be described as a national disaster in wait.

Bigotry, Success and Acceptance

The creation of a double standard to measure achievement is the cause of the racial divide fermenting within our borders. It is propagated by our ruling elite for political advantage. This is not to deny a percentage of racial bigotry is based on pure irrational hatred.

The handful of true racists, those who require racial discrimination to compensate for their own personal failures, are generally at the bottom of the food chain. Not to put too fine a point on it, bigotry allows them to feel superior to someone. It’s a handy shelter to excuse their lackluster performance.

Education—and the economic opportunities it opens—is the best cure for this kind of “compensatory racial prejudice.” The self-esteem of successful, productive people doesn’t require a crutch. Financial success is the perfect anti-dote against racial prejudice.

With all its warts, capitalism combined with democracy, is the greatest anti-discrimination tool ever conceived by man. It offers opportunity. Just the chance for success, based on imagination and individual initiative, is what lured generations of immigrants to our shores. And each wave of immigrants encountered discrimination.

They earned respect the American way. They entered legally, kept their eye on the goal, adopted our customs, learned English, believed in a good education, worked hard and saved, accepted setbacks as temporary and eventually blended with society. They became Americans.

But equally important, they quickly learned that Americans admire success. They grasped a simple truth: Success and acceptance are inseparable in the United States of America. They had to earn acceptance. They had to earn respect. There were no guarantees and no shortcuts. And earn and build they did, creating wealth beyond the dreams of any nation.

The re-distribution of this personal wealth has created a new form of prejudice. It is not racial, although that’s the way it’s pigeonholed. Actually, it is resentment. It blossomed when a major faction—Democrats by name—began treating success as a right, rather than an opportunity.

To accomplish this, the Democrats disavowed all the standards of assimilation in the melting process. This shortcut removed the benchmarks upon which progress was measured. Language, education, employment, adherence to traditional values, pride in citizenship and obeying the laws of the nation became optional.

They substituted entitlements, multi-culturalism, affirmative action and diversity for the proven techniques upon which our national unity was built and preserved. They created a double standard to measure the achievement of minorities and immigrants. This ploy only served to create resentment and a backlash.

In a rigged contest, the winner’s accomplishment doesn’t earn respect—it doesn’t work that way in America. The Democrats damaged our culture when they substituted the right to play on an even field with the right to succeed. They betrayed minorities and new immigrants by setting lower standards that belittle and undermine their personal triumph.

The Democrats only succeeded in stoking resentment by ignoring the basic tenet of capitalism: Success breeds acceptance and acceptance breeds success. Both can be groomed and protected by law, but neither can be mandated by law—just cheapened.

A Cold Chill

Last week the Democrats unfurled their secular progressive flag and planted it in our nation’s capitol. There can be no more conjecture about their Weaken America strategy. Six events crystallized their goals.

First, Representative Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic House Speaker, and the defacto spokesperson for the far left, supported regulations which would prohibit the mention of God in government documents. Although she backtracked when the effort was exposed, the incident defined the far left’s intent to rid the nation of any mention of God.

Secondly, presidential candidate, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, proposed that every newborn in the United States be given $5000. That’s what we need—a $5000 incentive for illegal aliens to cross our southern border. She also proposed that the government contribute $1000 to the 401Ks of families with incomes under $100,000, and $3500 subsidies for higher education.

Then, later in the week, she claimed she had “millions” of these ideas. We get it Senator Clinton—more entitlements, more taxes, more illegal aliens . . . the elimination of investment capital through confiscatory taxation . . . the government control of opportunity . . . the perfect socialist dream. Lenin and Marx would be thrilled with your vision.

Thirdly, the congressional Democratic delegation demanded that the electronic surveillance of suspected international terrorists be suspended unless subpoenas are granted. This would require our intelligence gathering agencies to know in advance the content of conversations prior to eavesdropping—which would require the NSA to be clairvoyant.

In a nutshell, the leftwing is demanding that international terrorists be provided the same Constitutional rights as US citizens. Why? To protect the rights of anyone within our borders who conspire with terrorists. They believe that protecting the rights of terrorists will enhance our international image and discourage terrorism—all evidence to the contrary.

Fourthly, the congressional Democrats officially announced their intention to attach the Dream Act—which is Lie and Stay Blanket Amnesty—to the current defense appropriation bill. This measure will open the door to permanent residence for about 40 million immigrants—illegal aliens and their extended families.

And it will stick the American taxpayers with about $6.8 trillion in additional taxes for illegal alien entitlements. The cost of the Iraqi War is chump change compared to this effort to grow an entitlement hungry constituency.

Fifthly, a national poll indicated that about twenty percent of Democrats believe the United States would be better off if our nation was defeated in Iraq. In response to this poll, Speaker Pelosi, and another charter member of the Weaken America Club, Senator Dick Durbin (D, IL), publicly stated that these funds used to fight al Qaeda would be better spent on more entitlements.

Sixthly, the Democrats proposed a resolution to condemn Turkey for its role in the genocide of Armenians—which happened 92 years ago. Such a resolution would only serve to drive a wedge between the United States and Turkey, a key ally in the Terrorism War.

This resolution encapsulates the leftwing war strategy: Undermine our military and the anti-terrorist coalition to speed a US defeat. A US defeat will benefit Democratic candidates in the 2008 elections. And welcome to the Weaken America Club.

No wonder we feel a cold chill. Representative Pelosi and the Weaken America Club are holding the door to our future wide open, ready to welcome Senator Clinton. The prospect of these collaborators controlling our destiny makes global warming appealing.

A Nation Teetering

The ultra-leftwing of the Democratic Party comprises about twenty percent of its supporters, which equates to about ten percent of the US population.

This powerful block of socialist fanatics have captured control of the Democratic Party and the mainstream media. Every Democratic politician is at the mercy of this lynch mob and their media enforcers.

To simply dismiss them as lunatics is dangerous because they are suffocating America’s prosperity and extinguishing our liberties.

They are the puppet masters. Democratic candidates either comply with their tenets or suffer retribution. Even moderate Democrats aren’t safe. Just ask Senator Joseph Lieberman.

These far-left militants are pure socialists. Religion, private enterprise and individualism are to this mob, what crosses, sunlight and silver bullets are to vampires.

Like all parasites, their survival depends on eating healthy tissue. They view America’s wage earners as a socialist feast. Government confiscation and redistribution of income is the key to their ascendency. Thus, taxation is their weapon of choice.

And this is the direction our nation is headed.

Socialists don’t believe in competition. They despise any form of personal measurement, whether it’s academic standards, sports and playground games, or ethical behavior. To them, failure deserves equal compensation with success. They hide their economic objectives behind political correctness, class warfare, race baiting, multi-culturalism and diversity.

And this is the direction our nation is headed.

They dismiss the Judeo-Christian principles of our founding fathers as prejudicial whims and encourage their soul mates in the ACLU to rid the nation of any mention of God.

And this is the direction our nation is headed.

Between private charities and government entitlements, there is plenty of aid available to climb above the poverty line. The underlying intent of these programs is what best differentiates the leftwing from the rest of America.

The leftwing believes government subsidies should be the permanent staple of life; while conservatives and moderates believe they are temporary shelters. Our economic future is already choking on entitlements. Listen to the Democratic presidential contenders. Their appetite for entitlements is insatiable.

And this is the direction our nation is headed.

The siren call of “shared responsibility” is doublespeak. It sanctifies the lowest common denominator. It eliminates personal responsibility. It condemns ambition, perseverance and individual freedom. It undermines the accumulation of wealth. It substitutes freedom of choice for government control of every aspect of our lives.

America is at a crossroad. We will all lose when a majority of the voters claim a lifetime of unconditional government support is a right. And that is what’s driving the Democrats’ demand for blanket citizenship for illegal aliens. They are not humanitarians. Their goal is to use these law breakers to stuff the ballot boxes.

And this is the divide upon which our nation teeters.

The Truth War

It’s getting ugly out there in campaign land because conservatives and moderates are responding—head on—to the deceit and disinformation broadcast by the leftwing media. It’s about time. This confrontation has awakened Americans to the myth of the mainstream media’s political neutrality.

The newsrooms of CNN, NBC, the New York Times and dozens of newspapers across the country have been identified as leftwing propaganda machines. Their trusted sidekicks in this “integrity free zone,” include the likes of Newsweek, USA Today, ABC, PBS and CBS. They are now recognized as little more than affiliates of the Democratic Party.

Last week the Truth War flamed on the Senate floor when the Democratic leader, Senator Harry Reid, deliberately twisted the words of the non-liberal, radio commentator, Rush Limbaugh, to distract attention from his own sagging reputation for loyalty.

Senator Reid, a charter member of the Weaken America Club, quoted the website of MediaMatters.org to blast Mr. Limbaugh. This organization, instigated by Senator Clinton and funded by George Soros, exists solely to quash and distort conservative, political dissent. It willingly and deliberately manufacturers lies to camouflage the leftwing’s agenda.

Senator Reid’s slander backfired because the Democrats can no longer deceive and rewrite history with full immunity. Granted, the Democrats can still trust their faithful media henchmen to ignore, bury or condone their lies.

But now that it is common knowledge that most of the mainstream media is owned and operated by ultra-leftwing operatives, its collaboration no longer guarantees an airtight bulwark against the truth. The old media’s staggering loss of viewer and readership—and the collapse of its stock values—verify that Americans are abandoning it in droves.

Although the truth is seeping out, the ultra-leftwing political, machine still controls about ninety percent of the major news outlets. When a Democratic prerogative is challenged they can mount a brutal offensive. And because they are not restricted by honesty or balanced reporting, the attacks can be lethal.

To regain the trust of the nation, the media had two choices. They chose the status quo. Rather than restoring their political credibility, these purveyors of misspeak mounted a frontal attack against their ally’s enemies—talk radio commentators and Fox Channel News.

It is obvious that the mainstream media has staked its continued relevance and influence on the outcome of the 2008 presidential contest. It’s a symbiotic relationship. The Democrats can’t win with objective reporting. This guarantees the collusion between the Democrats and the national media will be tighter than ever.

Thus the Truth War will go ballistic because they need each other for survival. If the Democrats win in 2008, the media’s support will be rewarded. The Democrats will launch legislation to destroy their mutual enemies.

Democracy requires a free and impartial media. That’s why the Constitution protects the press. But the press has become the voice of the Democrats. There is no separation. This political collusion is dangerously close to dousing the flames of liberty.

Money and Drums

After Newt Gingrich realized that his chance of capturing the Republican nomination for president in 2008 was remote, he officially declined to enter the race. His decision stirred little surprise, some disappointment, but mostly apathetic shrugs.

Like Senator Fred Thompson, he had hoped there would be an overwhelming ground swell of support for his candidacy. He was looking for a free lunch, and wasn’t willing to roll up his sleeves to fight for it.

The speculation in conservative circles over Mr. Gingrich’s potential entry only defined the lack of enthusiasm for the first tier contenders, Governor Mitt Romney and Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Along with the dark horse, Governor Mike Huckabee, they are the last men standing.

Senator McCain’s pro-amnesty push, Senator Thompson’s laziness and sense of entitlement and the lack of credible financing for the third tier candidates have already made them footnotes in the 2008 campaign. These are indisputable facts and not predictions.

They all held promise, but at this stage of the process, contributing funds to their campaigns makes as much sense as buying oats for a dead horse.

Although rarely heard above the political din of the noisier campaigns—due to the shortage of funds—Governor Huckabee, without repackaging, is the only moderate conservative. Listen carefully and you hear a man who puts America ahead of his ambitions. With the possible exception of Governor Romney, he is the only one on either side of the aisle with this attribute.

On the human level, he is more appealing than Governor Romney. It’s difficult for voters to relate to Mitt because he is too perfect. It’s difficult to imagine him with dirty hands from menial work. This image is not a veneer, it’s him.

To win the presidency in 2008, the Republican hopeful will have to get down in the mud—which is the Clintons’ playground. Governor Huckabee is from Arkansas and understands the rules of engagement. It’s not clear if Mitt Romney can fight without gloves. And that’s one of the key requirements the contest will demand as the Clintons don’t take prisoners.

There is no doubt that Mayor Giuliani is aggressive and hardnosed. He is not a man given to pulling punches. His toughness is a given. But he comes with a lot of baggage. He walks and talks like a conservative, but so did President George W. Bush. Certainly Mayor Giuliani will appeal to the moderates, but will he instill conservative enthusiasm?

The Republicans can’t depend on conservatives and moderates heading to the polls to simply vote against Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. If just a few percent of conservatives sit out the election, the Republicans won’t win. That’s the inherent risk a Mayor Giuliani nomination carries.

It’s a shame that money is more important than message and ethics in this age of lengthy, 24/7 campaigning. But in truth it is. The candidates with the loudest drums garner the most support.

America’s moderates and conservatives would be best served by throwing some money into the campaign chest of the quiet candidate, Governor Michael Huckabee. He’s the only natural on the platform.

God Help Us

On September 26, 2007 the Democratic presidential candidates gathered to debate at Dartmouth College, in Hanover, New Hampshire. It wasn’t newsworthy. Neither the candidates, nor the moderator, nor the forum could electrify a fence.

But the horror of what they preach is beguiling.

The candidates were their usual selves. In summary, Senator Hillary Clinton cackled, Senator Edwards ignored the threat of terrorism, Senator Dodd remained a pompous blowhard, Senator Obama defined his inexperience and Representative Kucinich championed the virtues of defeat, pacifism and socialism.

Without exaggeration, and within a few degrees, they all condemned our objectives in Iraq and believe terrorists should be provided attorneys. They pledged to curtail electronic surveillance of suspected international terrorists and weaseled around Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its involvement in Iraq.

They praised amnesty for illegal aliens and promised to protect sanctuary cities and dismissed the open border crisis.

They heralded higher taxes and more federal regulation as the universal solution for all the domestic issues tabled, and pledged government control of healthcare and more and fatter entitlements for their constituency.

And they breezily agreed that tax subsidies for solar and wind power would solve the US energy crisis. Of course, they blamed President Bush for all the evils in the world.

This Democratic agenda is a broadside against what generations of Americans fought to build and preserve—liberty, national security, individualism and freedom of choice. Their platform is the antithesis of the principles that support the foundation of our nation.

During the course of this Weaken America Love Fest, these leftwing zealots inferred that their personal vision, policies and commitment to undermine America’s strength and traditional values would bring harmony to America. That’s right. They believe their socialist agenda will heal the partisan divisions.

It’s an admirable objective and could happen, if their national healthcare program mandates mass sterilization and lobotomies for the productive segment of society. And there is nothing in their progressive secular handbook that would prohibit these measures.

What is equally appalling is that they are successfully selling their betrayal of America. This raises the question: Why does anyone vote for candidates who despise private enterprise, the military, and unabashedly undermine our national sovereignty, security and our Judeo-Christian heritage?

We are at this crossroad because the ultra-leftwing has dominated our media for two generations. These masters of doublespeak and disinformation have distorted and revised our history. They adopted the tactic that the author, George Orwell, made famous in his novel, 1984—Repeat the lie until people believe it.

And they are aided by their soul mates, the equally malevolent masters of propaganda running our universities. We are losing sight of the objective truth. God help us.
