Here's a Plan

There are many otherwise rational citizens in this country who consider terrorism a passing fad. They believe that if the West simply ignores the Islamic Jihadists that they will tire of massacres and there will be peace on earth and goodwill to all.

These are the same brilliant minds that danced in the streets when the Supreme Court ruled that every terrorist captured on the field of battle is entitled to the same court protections granted US citizens. The logical extension of this decision is reading these pre-historic miscreants their Miranda Rights if captured and detained.

Maybe their new approach is worth a try.

To insure the terrorists’ rights are not violated, the US should appoint ACLU attorneys to travel with every terrorist band. They can document any overzealous behavior of our combat troops. Let’s encourage them to report to their buddies in the UN. There they can enjoy the camaraderie of bashing America over US tax funded drinks.

The legal volunteers won’t be endangered if the US combat forces are instructed not to shoot the enemies carrying briefcases on the battle field.

The terrorists are just misunderstood Muslims. Or so we are told. So the military can relax, assured the terrorists won’t carry briefcases, or hide behind these defenders of American justice. Come on! That would be like them running and hiding behind women and children when they get caught in the US crosshairs. They would never do that.

Of course, every good plan includes preparation for unexpected contingencies. The last thing any American, dedicated to truth, justice and the American way, would want to hear is that our troops blew a bunch of crazy jihadists to hell without proper legal protection.

So in the event that the ranks of the ACLU are depleted by an occasional cruise missile, the country should enlist the help of Susan Sarandon and her pro-terrorist friends in Hollywood.

Their numbers could be augmented with the writers and editorial staffs at Newsweek, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The San Francisco Chronicle and the crews at CNN, MSNBC and the members of the Ninth Circuit Court.

Certainly these intellectuals will volunteer in great numbers to befriend the terrorists in their homelands. They have a lot in common. They share the belief that America deserved what happened on 9/11. It will be wonderful. They can sit around campfires and sympathize with these butchers and preach Marxism.

Certainly the terrorists will be pleased to learn that many Americans support the destruction of the western world. This will encourage them to lay down their weapons and wait for Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and their favorite presidential candidate, Senator Obama to open the West to conquest.

It’s a good plan. What is the worst that can happen? Maybe a few hundred whack jobs discover too late that the Muslim Jihadists enjoy beheading American civilians. Hey, no pain, no gain. What’s important is that we can test the merit of dialogue without pre-conditions.

Babies as Fashion Accessories

It’s difficult to get your head around the spike of high school teen pregnancies in Gloucester, Massachusetts. So far the number this year is seventeen in this fishing community of 30,000 residents.

Naturally, liberal organizations, personified by the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy, immediately blamed the school district’s ban on free contraceptives as the culprit. So far the evidence doesn’t support this cause and effect.

Based on the informal testimony of the school’s principal, Joseph Sullivan, many of these 14 to 16 year old girls made a concerted effort to become pregnant. Thus, it seems disingenuous to blame the pregnancies on the lack of birth control remedies available at the school.

It’s difficult to imagine that the majority of these children’s parents are not disappointed and puzzled and troubled by the situation. The community doesn’t benefit, nor does the school. And anyone would have to be callous not to be concerned about the bleak future of the unborn.

The media’s appraisal of the root causes and antidotes for Gloucester’s baby epidemic unfailingly mirrors the politics of the editorial boards of the publications.

The liberal dominated press doesn’t embrace teen pregnancy, but it goes to great lengths to blame the parents and religion. That Gloucester is a predominately Catholic community provides them ammunition to bash religion. They infer that personal responsibility and absolute truths are antiquated Christian-centric notions, and are a primary cause of teen pregnancy.

These socialists promote the state as the best source of guidance, and advocate state intervention in the rearing of children. This objective is camouflaged under the guise of shared responsibility. There is no surprise here. For nearly five decades every piece of legislation promoted by the leftwing encourages state encroachment on individual freedoms.

Conservatives are outraged. The terms “slut” and “bastards” are frequently heard on the last bastion where conservatives voice opinion, talk radio. The callers and pundits are quick to deride a culture that requires $9 billion annually to underwrite the cost of promiscuity. Unfortunately, bombast is no substitute for solutions.

Neither side can deny the culture of principled behavior is unraveling. Liberals applaud the disappearance of moral standards and conservatives bemoan the fact. Every parent, who deserves the title, understands the influence of the media on their children’s aspirations and decisions.

Any society whose tax policies force both parents into the job market, underwrites daycare to compensate, promotes instant gratification and judges the value of people by their possessions should not be surprised that its children would adopt the same standards.

Bill Albert, the Chief Program Officer of The National Campaign, offered an insightful comment about the mindset of young girls eager to be mothers. He suggested that they regard “babies as an accessory.” Maybe our society has sunk to this level.

The observation makes sense based on the trends in our culture depicted in movies such as Juno and Knocked Up. Sexual indiscretion is glorified, and the aftermath is bathed in happy ever after endings. Kids don’t worry about tomorrow. As with the current rage for tattoos, pushing a baby carriage down a school hall is the ultimate fashion statement.

It makes you question what would happen if the income taxes of one parent were reduced 75% if the other parent stayed home and tended the children. The nation would benefit from this investment in family.

The Deadly Season

It is the quadrennial silly season. There is nothing better than a US presidential election to bring out the crackpots, the liars and the masters of doublespeak. And some of us voted these performers into Congress. That’s the silly part of the equation. The rest is deadly.

These elected clowns and their toadies in the media have turned the energy crises into theater of the absurd. Their world must be suspended in ether somewhere between the Twilight Zone and Saturday Night Live. It’s difficult to pinpoint the exact location. But it’s obvious that they live in a parallel universe.

Their definition of truth is whatever they can sell to 51% of the American electorate. Their definition of a fact is any statement concocted from vapor which supports their agenda. And they are gambling with our nation’s economic longevity.

These facts are not in dispute: 1) The US has greater oil reserves than Saudi Arabia, 2) The footprint required to drill in ANWR (Alaska) would be comparable in size to an airport, 3) Including the extraction of oil from shale, the US has greater reserves than the Middle East, and 4) The US must rapidly implement technologies to replace fossil fuels.

Who are these dangerous fools?

Generally speaking, these are the nitwits that dominate the politics in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Washington, Minnesota, Maryland, New York, California and a large chunk of Oregon. They have the same respect for America’s prosperity and security that illegal aliens have for sovereign borders.

If they had an energy flagship, it would be called the USS SinkMe. These twits would have us believe that the US can achieve energy independence without a short term (20 years) fossil fuel solution. They turned off the US spigot with the signature of that incomparable visionary, President Clinton.

These are the doomsayers that rail against coal fired energy in the US. Evidently they aren’t aware that planet earth shares the same atmosphere with the foreign countries that purchase and use this coal for generating electricity.

These are the energy clairvoyants who have blocked the development of nuclear energy, a pollution free energy source used throughout Europe for generations. And for good measure, for over thirty years, they have retarded the construction of oil refineries with esoteric government regulations.

These agrarian society devotees pushed ethanol down our throats without a care about the impact on the price of food. Europe is outraged that the cost of its foodstuffs has nearly doubled since this US taxpayer subsidized boondoggle began.

The flooding in Iowa will compound the cost of grain as millions of acres of crops were destroyed. You can safely bet these myopic fools hadn’t considered the consequences of natural disasters. It is equally clear that they don’t give a wit if American family budgets are hammered into mush.

These are the doom and gloom prognosticators that have willingly, and with malice, handed over the keys of our economic survival to our enemies. These socialists hate this country, they hate capitalism and they are ashamed of our strength and success. That’s why they lie about global warming by pretending to know its cause.

That’s why they are thrilled with the prospect of Senator Obama leading this country into economic ruin. He epitomizes their vision of America’s future.

McCain Endorses Liberal Stereotypes

Every day Senator McCain provides new reasons for conservatives to stay away from the polls in November. The rationales for Republicans to sit this election out are piling up faster than his contributions. Gee, do you think there is a correlation between his empty campaign coffers and his public pronouncements?

Senator McCain is now promising to fill his cabinet with women. Conservatives would be outraged if he ignored any potential appointee because of gender, race or religion. But filling any government post with a female based solely on her gender is called affirmative action.

Senator Obama has already nailed down the staunch, affirmative action legions. They are called liberals. In fact, he owes his own candidacy to this double standard. He owns this market.

McCain’s decision to pander to this segment of women voters brings his judgment and convictions into question. Does he believe that he has a chance to win the hearts and minds of these socialists? And like the liberals, does he actually believe women are innately incapable of achieving success without special concessions?

Apparently he does, which is a slap in the face to women. This pandering substantiates his attitude. Who knew he believed in the liberals’ assessment of women’s inferiority? Whether the decision to fill his cabinet with women was the idea of some moronic handler, or the result of his own logic, it insulted every successful woman in this country.

There is nothing wrong with wooing female voters. But why select a strategy that deliberately embarrasses them by suggesting they need charity? Why mimic the liberal position? Any woman swayed by the double standard of affirmative action, rather than by her innate confidence in herself, is already a victim of political paralysis.

These voters are not in contention.

But there are millions upon millions of women who have faith in themselves. They don’t see themselves as victims. They see their sex as a random, biological happenstance of birth. They are bright, educated contributors to America’s success. They have never seen themselves as second class citizens, nor have they capitulated to the liberal caricatures of their gender.

They are winners. And their votes are in contention because they have always been on our nation’s front lines. They don’t need John McCain’s endorsement. They don’t need Barack Obama’s sympathy. They are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves, their families and their destiny.

And they are realists. They know that government incompetency and political wrangling are the major contributors to the energy crisis, the illegal alien quagmire, the healthcare inadequacies, the deteriorating educational standards, the nation’s neglected infrastructure and the decline of moral standards. They want a strong nation, fear terrorists and they want to be safe.

These voters are looking for solutions. They want to know how you, Senator McCain, are going to address these issues. So stop depicting them as helpless losers; stop splashing in the liberal agenda.

Treat them like intelligent, rational decision makers. Give them concrete reasons for voting for you. That’s all they are looking for. They will do the rest themselves.

The Media & Senator Obama

Has Senator Clinton fallen off the planet? It seems she was handed her hat and coat the moment she suspended her campaign and wished Senator Obama good luck. It’s as if she was sucked into a galactic black hole as she stepped away from the podium.

There is nary a reference to her in the newspapers, on the broadcast and cable news, on the internet, or in the weekly news publications. It’s conceivable that she is holed up in some private compound licking her wounds after an arduous campaign.

To pretend the disappearance of the Clintons isn’t a blessing would be disingenuous. About as many are thrilled to be living in a Clinton free zone as those who are looking forward to the Bush family permanently retreating to Texas. Twenty years of these families is enough.

But Hillary is not old news. She has enough delegates and ardent supporters to turn the Democratic convention into a socialist blood bath. So even granting her apparent loss and the Democratic Party’s need to unite its base, her out-and-out disappearance is suspect.

There can only be one plausible reason for this anti-matter phenomenon. Our illustrious liberal dominated media is in full throttle to canonize its favorite Christian convert. To accomplish this mission they must capture the hearts of the eighteen million Hillary voters.

They are in full erasure mode; convinced Hillary’s non-existence will swing the Democratic moderates into the Obama camp. This is the same media that slapped her around with the long end of the publicity stick once Obama’s ethnicity and brand of politics inspired its ranks.

There is nothing new about the media’s strategy. For months now it has ignored the volume of good news emanating from Iraq. The stabilization of this country since the military surge is incredible. It worked. A US victory is within grasp.

This substantiated fact makes Senator Reid, Speaker Pelosi and their anointed candidate real losers. That’s why the subject of Iraq is in full erasure mode.

This is the same media that would have Americans believe that Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers and Michelle’s anti-America rhetoric aren’t worthy of its attention. Nor do they believe the US electorate should be informed that Senator Obama voted against adopting English as the official language of government.

This is the same media that hasn’t protested the fact that Senator Obama refuses to make his birth certificate available to the public. Strange, isn’t it? They don’t care what he is hiding although they attempted to have Senator McCain’s candidacy disqualified because he was born in Panama.

This is the same socialist bent media that ignores the 2000+ corporations that have been scooped up by foreign interests since George W. Bush was inaugurated. This detail is difficult to explain without examining the US corporate tax structure.

Is it possible that these media tax & spend aficionados don’t want the public to know the economic consequences of having the second highest corporate taxes in the world? This knowledge puts their candidate’s higher corporate taxes prescription at odds with America’s security.

And why isn’t the media screaming for Obama to participate in the give-an-take, town hall style forums? The answer is obvious. The questions can’t be vetted, nor can the questioners be vetted. The media realizes that he would be ripped to shreds without it running interference for him.

Obama owes his political existence to the media’s protective cocoon.

Liberal Anticipation

Energy, the issue du jour, had Senator Harry Reid sulking in front of the microphones. This Democratic congressional specimen was seen sagging at the knees and weeping bitterly because those nasty Republicans blocked his efforts to raise the taxes on gasoline to reduce its cost.

Good old Harry is not mathematically challenged. Nor is he stupid. He is a socialist who got carried away. Harry and his comrades truly believe that it is better to starve the US economy and a few million families, than to lose the momentum of their big government crusade.

Harry and the other leftwing fanatics running Congress have too much political capital invested in Senator Obama to slow down. Their affirmative action creation is now in contention for the Oval Office; no longer just a fairy godmother in their political dreams.

Harry’s excitement over the prospects of the cooperation of a pure socialist president clouded his judgment. This explains Harry’s poor sense of timing in enthusiastically begging the Senate to raise the cost of energy before an election when it’s already skyrocketing.

Raising taxes on energy is not generally regarded by bread & butter Americans as a good way to reduce its cost. Ordinary Americans believe drilling for oil is preferable to cold homes, high unemployment and empty stomachs.

Harry and his friends have always ignored these stupid, unwashed masses. These ignorant savages don’t know that abundant, affordable energy in the hands of the private sector cripples the power of government.

It frees individuals to pursue wealth, which in turn creates economic gaps within society. Harry and his comrades believe this is detrimental to their goal of universal equality.

For five decades “evening the playing field” has driven the Democratic agenda.

They have actively managed to eliminate the grading system in schools, competition for government contracts, even score keeping in playground sports. Rather than immersing children in English, the basic building block of success, they implemented bi-lingual education.

They don’t believe success should be rewarded, or that the industrious should benefit from their labors. To this end they concocted affirmative action, diversity, and multi-culturalism to reward opportunity to those who can’t compete on an even playing field.

They can’t acknowledge the intrinsic differences between the genders because doing so is counter-productive to the goals of socialism. Even the mention of a Supreme Being sends shivers down their backs.

Every piece of legislation they propose is designed to undermine the rewards of success. They are not about building opportunity; they are about distributing opportunity.

Taxation, for Harry and his friends, is their weapon of choice to destroy incentive. And they want the price of oil so high that no one can afford it. That’s their definition of equality and the fast lane for the government’s consolidation of private wealth.

Political Correctness in 2008

Give the liberals credit for their candidate, Senator Obama, winning the Democratic presidential nomination. If the outcome gave you a déjà vu twitch, it’s more than likely your parents read you Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale about the naked emperor.

It would be sour grapes not to state that Obama is ambitious, a sparkling orator, a savvy politician and one great fund raiser. And his win is a testament to the honesty of the media. They admit that Obama makes their legs tingle. He’s their affirmative action baby.

This should thrill his avid supporter, Ted Kennedy. Maybe it is the reason this old socialist survived brain surgery. Had Obama selected a career in medicine, and was accepted and pushed through Harvard based on its diversity requirements, Kennedy might be dead if Obama’s specialization was brain surgery.

This is not to defame, or underestimate, the talent of the attending proctologist. This is the surgeon who had to clear a path through the brown matter to uncover Senator Kennedy’s gray matter. Obviously if this doctor was color blind Senator Kennedy would not have survived.

Neither are the liberals in the media, blacks, and upper class intellectuals color blind. On the contrary! They are well aware of color. Unlike the gun toting Americans who cling to religion, the liberals voted for Obama strictly because of his skin color.

Moderates or conservatives using this singular criterion would be called racists. But be careful. This double standard is not universally applied. Black moderates and conservatives are blasphemed as Uncle Tom’s. So listening or voting for them is bad.

Still confused?

Then once again for clarity: In the liberal lexicon, voting for a person strictly because he/she is black is not racism, but not voting for a black candidate is racism, unless the candidate is not a socialist.

Yes, it’s puzzling. Maybe a refresher course in political correctness will help. In any setting where politics are mentioned, remember that black candidates are superior to white candidates, and white female candidates are superior to white male candidates. And never, never voice a favorable opinion about a black or female candidate until you confirm their liberal credentials.

There are corollaries to this. Whites who attack the politics of black candidates are called racists. But whites who praise the opinions of black candidates are considered enlightened. And you must ignore blacks spewing racial bigotry, because according to the liberal handbook, blacks can’t be racists.

If you are still confused, tune into NBC, CNN, MSNBC or CBS for a refresher course. Their evening news programs offer live lessons nightly.

The good news is that the liberals have not succeeded in eliminating the privacy of the voting booth. Granted, they tried to override this constitutional protection by supporting the labor union bosses’ move to require their membership to vote publicly.

So there is one face saving alternative remaining for moderate and conservative voters. To protect your PC image tell the media pollsters anything that fits their definition of enlightenment, and then secretly vote for the candidate who is wearing clothes.

Intellectuals, Zombies and the Stupid

Historically, about one-half of the eligible voters have never bothered to show up at the polls. Evidently this segment of society has never related the success or failure of the economy to their lives.

Maybe the nation should be thankful. Anyone unable to see the relationship between voting and protecting the nation’s self-interests doesn’t have a clue about the consequences of bad government policy. So it is just as well that they have stayed home for generations upon generations.

But the times are a changing!

The current presidential campaign is trumpeted by the press as opening the eyes of millions of these people to the power of voting. Based on the poll numbers, quoted ad nauseam by the media, little, if any, of this enthusiasm is based on political knowledge.

These are the country’s dumbest voters. They are sleep walkers who head to the polls to vote for candidates because of their gender and/or ethnicity. They are joined and encouraged by the intellectuals who want to demonstrate their racial tolerance, and the zombies who automatically vote Democratic.

The vast majority of these Americans, if aware, would protest against any bill that brought the cost of gasoline to $8 a gallon, or doubled the cost of heating and cooling their homes, or tripled the cost of groceries.

They would come unglued if the US Congress promised the United Nations .75% of the US Gross National Product ($845 billion annually) for worldwide charitable causes, and knew America’s poor would never see a penny of this money.

So what if the Democrats want to protect the environment by confiscating the money used to grow the economy? They don’t see the personal relevance. And how could they?

They are blinded by the color of Senator Obama’s skin. That’s enough information for them. And they heard he’s about change. So what if he has no international experience, is pro-terrorist, an economic neophyte, and has demonstrated common sense shallower than the morning dew. No one is perfect.

These voters are in an ethnic trance. They don’t know that Obama introduced the bill (The Global Poverty ACT, S.2433) which automatically deeds nearly 1% of the US’s wealth to those conniving thieves running the UN.

They don’t know he supports the bill pending in Congress that will drive energy prices through the roof to “save the planet.” They don’t know that scientists are uncertain about the root cause of global warming.

They don’t know Obama plans on ransacking the retirement accounts of Americans by doubling the capital gains tax. They probably don’t know what an earmark is, or for that matter, the government’s source of revenue.

They don’t know that Obama supports the Boxer-Warner-Lieberman bill pending in Congress that will cost $6 trillion to reduce global warming 1%. They don’t know China and India’s growth could offset this expenditure.

They don’t know Obama will open the borders and encourage millions of illegal aliens to take their jobs. They don’t know he has promised to gut the US missile defense network. They just know he is black.

Senator Obama’s success confirms that most intellectuals lack common sense, and that political zombies and the stupid are the gravest threat our democracy faces.

Boy Scout in Chief

President George W. Bush is as popular as a flat tire. The aftermath of the Iraqi invasion turned about 65% of the nation against him, and the uncontested invasion of illegal aliens placed him at odds with at least 70% of his political base.

The current economic climate, especially the cost of energy, has all but eliminated any remaining fans.

Even his former press secretary, Scott McClellan, has joined the Bush Basher Club of America. At least it’s clear that Mr. McClellan joined the club for the money after being shown the backdoor of the White House. His rancor and pursuit of riches won’t change many minds because he’s preaching to the choir.

But the publication of his “kiss and tell” book confirms what most everyone who witnessed McClellan’s performances in front of the cameras suspected. He’s a weak kneed, mealy mouthed weasel. His successors, Tony Snow and Dana Perino, have confirmed by comparison, how wishy-washy and inept he was.

He almost single handily changed the perception of the Bush administration; the perception of George W. Bush. He played the role as an apologist rather than a promoter.

From his debut as press secretary, it was obvious that McClellan was in over his head. His intelligence was never in question. He just couldn’t connect with the media or the public. He didn’t have a fire in his belly and always looked intimidated.

Thus, the performance of this designated White House spokesperson denigrated the reputation of the entire administration. By proximity and implication, he made them all look like patsies when he didn’t challenge the leftwing vitriol spewed around the press room.

McClellan’s recent exercise in political backstabbing isn’t out of character in DC. But it does shed light on the major failure of the Bush presidency. The President’s instincts were good and few would doubt that he was well intentioned. Unfortunately, he was as much blinded as guided by his conscience.

He was and is too much a Boy Scout and too little a pragmatist.

McClellan overstayed his welcome behind the podium because of the President’s unquestioned loyalty to his friend. We witnessed this same shortcoming when the President nominated another close friend, Harriet Miers, for the Supreme Court. And Donald Rumsfeld outstayed his welcome as Secretary of Defense for the same reason.

President Bush has been beaten by his conscience and sense of loyalty, not policy. He shares the blame for the dismal spending record of the Republican controlled Congress prior to 2006. Where was the veto pen? It seems he went along to get along. Maybe nice guys do finish last.
