Fairytales Have Come True

The attitude of America’s citizens has changed since 9/11. Generosity and patience are at a premium. Our optimism is jaded by uncertainty, our confidence soiled by apprehension and our horizon is blurry. America is angry. Its citizens want change.

This is what ignited Senator Obama’s candidacy. He was a breath of fresh air. Now he is just contributing to the political pollution. Since the packaging peeled off, we see another insufferable, elitist politician who stutters without a teleprompter. And Senator McCain is only a few steps closer to starboard and maybe a few degrees forward.

We need a statesman at the helm, but will end up with Daffy Duck or Elmer Fudd. Neither candidate has offered a concise blueprint to put the country back on course. McCain is carrying notes on a napkin, and Obama’s vision makes Little Red Riding Hood look perceptive.

This Congress’ legislative record, by comparison, raises the Seven Dwarfs to the status of a world class think tank. What don’t the Republicans and Democrats understand about the message Americans sent during the primaries? We are furious. We are sick and tired of programs that throw Americans overboard to appease our competitors, enemies and southern neighbors.

We are tired of political correctness distorting the issues and smearing the truth. We would rather have our strength respected than our downfall beloved.

Congress treats our future like a game of chance. They gamble and tinker with our lives for political gain. Statecraft has been reduced to party gamesmanship. Lobbyists and freeloaders crush us with debt and devour our stamina.

Congress has succeeded in dividing the ship of state into competing constituencies. We have become a nation of sub-cultures. Class warfare, euphuisms and doublespeak are their weapons of choice to chip away at our core values and undermine our traditions. They have flushed merit down the toilet which is extinguishing our freedom and valor.

They thrive on indecision because solutions reduce their influence.

They think we are fools, but it is Congress that is delusional. They think the West can negotiate with terrorists and that our allies aren’t self-serving. But war is not about compromise or building love. Our survival is not negotiable. Iran is going nuclear. While these DC miscreants dither, the lynchpin of Islamic terrorism is planning our destruction.

So what is left to debate? It’s Iran that has a decision to make. Destroy the centrifuges or become the world’s largest parking lot. Only those who believe that Wile E. Coyote is a victim of the Road Runner’s lack of compassion can image Obama delivering this message. That’s why terrorists praise Allah for his primary victory.

As the data on the cause of global warming mounts, Al Gore makes Chicken Little look like the scientific prophet of the ages. The country is desperate for affordable energy, and Speaker Pelosi has morphed into Snow White. While this Save the Planet princess remains in a coma the Big Bad Wolf is stalking this country. Meanwhile, the Three Little Pigs are getting hammered by unemployment and inflation.

We are tired of being treated like Hanzel & Gretal. We are not lost and we know who always gets stuck paying for the gingerbread house. Get this straight! We are not going to climb into the oven to appease their appetites.

Although the nation will be stuck with McCain or Obama, it is not too late for Congress to think of itself as an American institution.

Our Trojan Horse

Anyone with an IQ higher than a kid’s shoe size knows there is going to be a showdown with Iran. Western civilization, that’s us, can only pretend the situation is not approaching critical mass.

Iran is using our petro dollars to underwrite terrorism. The evidence is overwhelming that it is exporting tons of munitions into Iraq for the sole purpose of destabilizing the fledging democracy. Its proxies are killing American soldiers and Iraqi civilians.

This is the same country that is planning and promoting the annihilation of Israel and working feverishly to develop nuclear weapons. This is the same country that supplies weapons to the Palestinian terrorists and underwrites global jihad.

Does everyone believe that Iran would be thrilled with another 9/11? Does everyone believe that another attack on our shores is being planned? Does everyone believe Iran is hiding behind proxies?

Within our borders are many advocates of international dialogue who are not sure if Iran is evil. They believe Iran is just misunderstood. They believe a touchy-feely conversation will miraculously cause Iran to change course.

No one likes our troops in Iraq. But pretending that their instant removal will dissolve the terrorist threat is absurd. It will only embolden them by substantiating Iran’s message to the Muslim world. The West is too decadent and morally weak to defend itself.

These advocates of a better understanding through conversation are the same folks who are blocking the implementation of a practical energy solution. These are the same folks who blame America for Iran’s attitude, and promote sanctuary cities. They are the ones who have debased our culture under the guise of free speech.

The liberals would have us believe that average Muslims are victims of our avarice. They are unemployed and poorly educated because capitalism exploits the Middle East for oil. This is pure poppycock.

The Middle East is drowning in petro dollars. The financial resources are there to fund flourishing nations. The governments are too corrupt and mismanaged to secure or care about the well-being of their citizens.

They use the Muslim religion to hold their dictatorial power just as Europe’s rulers used Catholicism in the Middle Ages to control the populace. But they have taken this practice a step further. They use the West as a scapegoat to mask their greed and malfeasance.

The liberals have bought this propaganda hook, line and sinker. This blame America cabal is more dangerous than the terrorists. They are the Trojan horse within our defensive perimeters.

And they have two presidential candidates secreted in this Trojan horse, waiting for night.

Energy Independence First

Today, the survival of Western Civilization depends on the production of energy. It’s the universal source of food, shelter, clothing and the fulcrum upon which our nation’s economy and security teeters.

The refusal of congressional Democrats to recognize our absolute dependency on energy is placing the nation in great peril. And time is running out. Their practice of holding energy independence initiatives hostage to environmental sensitivities during a time of war is beyond traitorous—it’s insanity.

Energy—the nation’s lifeline—is heavily dependent on fossil fuels from foreign suppliers. This dependency has enslaved our economy to the dictates of foreign countries and made our nation vulnerable to the goals of Islamic fascists.

When the US was the primary buyer of energy in the twentieth century, it controlled the marketplace. The rapid industrialization of Third World countries, especially China and India, changed the balance of power. The competition for oil has made the United States vulnerable to international blackmail. The cost of oil is already depreciating the value of our currency.

That the United States imports about 20% of it oil directly from the Middle East is both dangerous and moot. If the production flowing from the Arabian Peninsula is severely interrupted, the competition for other sources will be intense. No industrialized country will have a safe harbor.

If the disruption is prolonged, the western democracies will suffer economic chaos.

The Islamic terrorists, those determined to destroy western civilization, understand this dependency. Although the pipelines remain vulnerable to clandestine attacks, the control of the oil reserves and pipelines by Islamic fundamentalist/fascist caliphates is the greater danger.

Iran has already fallen under Islamic fundamentalist control and is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to undermine the US efforts in Iraq. If the US military exits Iraq before stabilizing its government, the Islamic fundamentalists will gain control of Iraq’s reserves and outputs.

Now, let’s give Iran a nuclear weapon. They don’t have to detonate it in Europe or the United States to destroy us.

Just threatening to annihilate Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait if they fail to curtail or cease their oil production could reduce the world oil output by about 50%. One bomb dropped on Saudi Arabia would send the western democracies into a decades’ long economic tailspin.

With this very real possibility a few hours away, Senator Reid and Speaker Pelosi are screaming for the US to bequeath Iraq to Iran. And the Democrats are even protesting the consideration of terminating Iran’s nuclear threat with military force.

The failure to acknowledge—or comprehend—that US energy independence must take precedence over environmental concerns is a prescription for disaster. Global warming and animal habitats are irrelevant when compared to the catastrophic consequences of US transportation at a standstill, the shutdown of commerce, cold homes and food shortages.

Of Guns and Gods

Since historians scribbled notes, religious prosecution and aggrandizement have been tied to the expansion and consolidation of power and economic gain. In each instance, the promotion of a single, religious belief has doomed countries to bloodshed, political chaos and war.

Atheism is a lowercase religion, or sect, whose adherents believe all power resides in man and the state. It offers a unique way of looking at the universe. It’s neither good nor bad, and is technically defensible.

Communism is the blend of atheism and socialism. Socialism is uppercase religion-intolerant. The first of the Ten Commandments (Thou shall not have strange Gods before Me.) conflicts with the first axiom of socialism—all power resides in the state. Socialists find the remaining nine Commandments good to go. They do reserve the right to interpret them. That right led to the death of about 20 million reluctant central and eastern Europeans and Russians, the creation of the Soviet Union and the Cold War.

The annals of Christianity, Judaism and Muslimism are replete with equally unsavory episodes in mankind’s abuse of religious tolerance for the sake of state hegemony. Many graveyards in Ireland attest to the consequences of religious intolerance. Now, each day new families are standing over fresh graves wreaked by the havoc of guns and gods.

Religion is an excellent pretext for rallying support. It’s a tried and true methodology, capable of inciting its disciples to commit atrocities that require no atonement. The Islamic jihad against infidels is a pretext, unless one believes Iran’s President and mullahs, or Iraq’s al-Sadr, or al-Asad of Syria aren’t motivated by expansion, power and treasure.

Westerners who espouse the idea that democracies brought this terrorism upon themselves are delusional. They site the creation of Israel and the West’s interference in the Middle East as the cause. That’s propaganda straight from the Marketing-A-War handbook of Muslim leaders. The jihad was born of the ambitions of Arab and Persian princes seeking to dominate their neighbors and the oil fields.

As it happens, the United States and its allies are standing between them and their goals—and $10 a gallon gasoline.

That was Saddam Hussein’s objective. He used the animosity between Sunnis and Shiites to consolidate his control of Iraq. It’s difficult to believe that the “Butcher of Bagdad” cared about which descendents of Mohammad were worthiest to carry the mantle of the Islamic faith. Empire builders use the tools at hand. He leveraged their hatred.

Saddam’s termination and the destruction of the Iraqi military enhanced Iran’s prospects to dominate the oil rich Arabian peninsula. A US withdrawal from Iraq coupled with a nuclear arsenal exponentially increases its potential for a successful conquest.

A strong Iraq, democratic or not, is an unwanted barrier to Iran’s ambitions. Iran is not about to commit any overt act which will place it in the sights of the US military. It does understand that the death of American soldiers and Iraqi citizens solidifies the political opposition to the US presence in Iraq.

Iran will continue to exploit this ambivalence by supplying their al-Qaeda proxies. Certainly, the proxies will continue to leverage the hatred between Sunnis and Shiites to keep the death toll climbing. The stakes are high in Iraq and the outcome is open to conjecture. The only thing Americans can be certain of is that Allah is hearing a lot of good things about Democratic candidates.
