Hillary's Last Hope Wears a Skirt

The contest between Senator Clinton and Senator Obama concentrated the nation’s attention on gender and ethnicity. Voter alignment and sentiment swirled around these issues.

The candidates’ political agendas were nearly identical. The media’s attention on the soaring rhetoric of Senator Obama and its love of his skin color caught the Clintons by surprise. Bill and Hillary thought they owned the airwaves and the press. That’s the assumption that sank her campaign.

Senator Obama won eleven straight primary contests before he was vetted. Then the rules of political correctness hampered the Clintons’ counter attack. After Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers and Michelle and Barack Obama’s politics were unveiled, the Clintons were unmercifully slapped around for mentioning these issues.

That’s the irony of her loss. Political correctness was concocted by the Clintons’ aficionados to shade the truth and change the rules of debate. Gender was the politically correct horse Hillary planned on riding into the White House. So she doesn’t deserve sympathy.

Hillary’s fortunes changed once Barack’s true colors were identified. Political correctness was trumped by the privacy of the voting booth. Although she carried every swing state in the final rounds, her resurrection came too late. The nation will discover on November 4, 2008 how many Americans regret pulling the Obama lever.

Senator Obama remains the Democratic nominee because the Convention Delegates knew that they would lose the black vote if they selected the best candidate. They were trapped, having depended on blacks for fifty years to keep them in office. Without the black vote the Democratic Party would cease to exist as a national contender.

Finally, the election is focusing on issues rather than the fanciful images created by the liberal media. It’s McCain verses Obama. Character, experience, economics, US security, energy, trade, education, healthcare, Social Security, Medicare, immigration and taxes are now percolating into the national discussion.

It’s now about liberal solutions verses conservative solutions. It’s about reality and ideals. The dynamics of this election have been changed by Sarah Palin. Senator McCain correctly portrays himself as neutral. He is neither fish nor fowl. So in the cold light of day, this election now pits the politics of Sarah Palin against the politics of Senator Obama.

There are two debates that Americans would relish: 1) Sarah vs. Barack, and 2) Sarah Palin vs. Speaker Pelosi. These contests would define the underlying choice Americans will make.

Who would win these debates? The jury is still out. But Hillary Clinton would benefit if Sarah walked away with America on her side. A McCain/Palin win in November would leave the door open for a Clinton run in 2012. Who would have guessed that Hillary’s last hope would be wearing a skirt?

A final irony: Sarah wouldn’t be a factor if Obama had selected Hillary as his running mate. That decision, of and by itself, identifies his petulance, immaturity and arrogance.

Our Trojan Horse

Anyone with an IQ higher than a kid’s shoe size knows there is going to be a showdown with Iran. Western civilization, that’s us, can only pretend the situation is not approaching critical mass.

Iran is using our petro dollars to underwrite terrorism. The evidence is overwhelming that it is exporting tons of munitions into Iraq for the sole purpose of destabilizing the fledging democracy. Its proxies are killing American soldiers and Iraqi civilians.

This is the same country that is planning and promoting the annihilation of Israel and working feverishly to develop nuclear weapons. This is the same country that supplies weapons to the Palestinian terrorists and underwrites global jihad.

Does everyone believe that Iran would be thrilled with another 9/11? Does everyone believe that another attack on our shores is being planned? Does everyone believe Iran is hiding behind proxies?

Within our borders are many advocates of international dialogue who are not sure if Iran is evil. They believe Iran is just misunderstood. They believe a touchy-feely conversation will miraculously cause Iran to change course.

No one likes our troops in Iraq. But pretending that their instant removal will dissolve the terrorist threat is absurd. It will only embolden them by substantiating Iran’s message to the Muslim world. The West is too decadent and morally weak to defend itself.

These advocates of a better understanding through conversation are the same folks who are blocking the implementation of a practical energy solution. These are the same folks who blame America for Iran’s attitude, and promote sanctuary cities. They are the ones who have debased our culture under the guise of free speech.

The liberals would have us believe that average Muslims are victims of our avarice. They are unemployed and poorly educated because capitalism exploits the Middle East for oil. This is pure poppycock.

The Middle East is drowning in petro dollars. The financial resources are there to fund flourishing nations. The governments are too corrupt and mismanaged to secure or care about the well-being of their citizens.

They use the Muslim religion to hold their dictatorial power just as Europe’s rulers used Catholicism in the Middle Ages to control the populace. But they have taken this practice a step further. They use the West as a scapegoat to mask their greed and malfeasance.

The liberals have bought this propaganda hook, line and sinker. This blame America cabal is more dangerous than the terrorists. They are the Trojan horse within our defensive perimeters.

And they have two presidential candidates secreted in this Trojan horse, waiting for night.

Americans Know It

The recent stimulus package is the government’s acknowledgment that the current economic path is sucking the life out of consumers.

The majority of Americans know the country is in deep trouble. The favorability numbers of President Bush and Congress are in the tank. Americans, whether conservative, moderate or liberal, have concluded the country is tumbling in the wrong direction.

The politicians, including Barack, Hillary and John, spend their energy pointing fingers across the aisle, while filling their campaign coffers by pretending to share our pain. In reality, they are little more than the designated, wannabe, keepers of the solution free zone we call DC.

The international scene is bleak. Afghanistan’s path to democracy seems stuck in neutral, except for its ability to grow and ship heroin. Iraq is improving, but there is no end in site. North Korea and Iran are neck deep in militarized nuclear programs, and China’s military is growing at an alarming rate.

Muslims are gunning to destroy Israel and Western Civilization. And even our so-called friends in the Middle East, like Saudi Arabia, are funding schools worldwide, including the United States, which preach the overthrow of democracy.

Our traditional allies have all but relinquished even the pretense of sharing the responsibility for stabilizing and protecting the West’s future. Like the UN, they just sit on the sidelines and carp.

The United States has all but forsaken manufacturing stateside. The source of most consumer products is China, India, South Korea, Japan and Indonesia. When the impact of this negative cash flow is combined with the dollars spent on foreign oil, it’s a wonder that the US currency is stronger than the Mexican peso.

Now factor in the US immigration policy. President Bush and Congress have abdicated control of our borders, abdicated our sovereignty. Those that can’t sneak in illegally are provided temporary visas. This influx is padded with droves of HB1 workers.

This endless flow is the wedge that business employs to depress the wages of US families, and increase its profits. Because the cost of illegal immigration is borne by local and state governments, Reid, Pelosi and Bush get a freebie for their constituencies.

Our primary education system is in default. We’re graduating illiterates at record levels. The decay of scholarship is destroying our ability to compete in a global market. By taking the work out of learning, we’re taken learning out of work.

Now throw in the pervasive attacks on Christianity and the Constitution, the deterioration of our infra-structure, the rampant pork barrel politics, the energy crisis, the soaring cost of food and the national media’s contempt for truth. Then stir in the anti-military sentiment, the decline of personal responsibility and free-for-all litigation.

Right now this nation is eating its young, and surviving on the reserves accumulated by previous generations. It can’t last. And Americans know it.

By Comparison

Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the United States ended as the Pennsylvania primary election readied to kick-off. Although it is impossible to judge the success of his mission, it’s obvious that all three presidential candidates would like the favorability ratings His Holiness garnered.

There is no doubt that Michelle Obama doesn’t understand the power of the charm and humility he exuded. Maybe the hats and robes are a giveaway, but assuredly, the Pope has never asked anyone in a snooty voice, “Do you know who I am?”

Michelle’s response to an inquiry defined her impression of herself and her sneering attitude toward average Americans. In the vernacular, she is an arrogant snot nose. So is her husband.

It’s just a guess. But it is difficult to believe the Pope clings to his religion because the economy is bad. In contrast to Barack and Michelle Obama’s spiritual leader, he asked God to bless America. Pope Benedict understands America’s pride in its history and believes the United States, with all its warts, is a well intentioned country; a country worthy of praise.

Setting religion aside, the Pope’s kind humanity was obvious. By comparison, Barack and Michelle’s humanity appears microscopic. The accouterments of respect can be purchased in Illinois. Remember Al Capone’s ascendancy?

But respect is mutual, or an empty, slick charade.

So it can’t be faked for long. In six days His Holiness earned more respect across our nation than Senator Obama and Michelle grossed in Pennsylvania with an eleven million dollar media blitz.

Senator Obama and Michelle won’t win the general election because they have illuminated their selfishness. Like the Clintons, these two elitists only care about their personal glory. That’s why their campaign is unraveling.

Pope Benedict doesn’t place morality on a sliding scale. He can’t be accused of being a flip-flopper, or pandering to the crowd. He has a single message. It doesn’t change if he is speaking in San Francisco or Pennsylvania.

That’s the true definition of the courage of conviction.

Honesty and consistency can travel long distances and can stand the test of time. Many may not like the Pope’s message, but few believe he would change it for votes or contributions. Maybe that’s the real definition of core values. Maybe that’s the change Americans are seeking.

Like Al Capone, Senator Obama is what he is. The impact of his message of change and hope has shriveled now that Americans understand his candidacy is only about his ambitions, now that his disdain for ordinary Americans is clear.

There is some good news for Senator Obama. He has caught up to the Clinton’s reputation. That explains why the Democratic campaign is in a dead heat.

Feel the Love

The 2008 presidential election is one ugly contest. Rattlesnake venom will soon be classified with mothers’ milk when compared to the poison spewed by the political vipers.

The caustic exchange of insults between the Obama supporter, Governor Bill Richardson, and the Clinton apologist, James Carville, defined the only rule: Shoot to kill.

Don’t expect a prisoner exchange before the votes are counted in November, as none of the combatants are taking hostages. The wounded should expect no mercy.

The political pundits need calculators to keep track of the body count. Of course, the news stars at ABC, NBC, NPR and CNN will rely on their memories as they hate to be hobbled by objective facts.

A major overture of the Democratic Party is unraveling in broad daylight. How many times have we heard both of the Democratic candidates and their party representatives seek voter support due to their willingness and unique ability to heal the nation’s divisions?

One only has to look at the win-at-any-cost tactics employed by the Obama and Clinton campaigns to realize that promise is a hallucination. They are demanding unconditional surrender, and compromise has yet to appear in their vocabularies.

If this is their definition of love, unity and cooperation, one can only imagine the tone of the rhetoric once the Democrats start attacking Republicans.

Moderates and conservatives had better place orders for body armor before the Democratic primary is settled.

The leftwing zealots are correct about one thing. This is a watershed election. The outcome will determine whether the newly elected president will walk hand-in-hand down the path with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, or defend our shores and values.

The liberals are just winding up. So keep the children indoors. It’s not going to be pretty. They are stashing away funds for the final shock and awe assault on America’s sanity.

The message of hope, peace, change and truth has been redacted from the Democratic handbook. It’s already too late for their candidates to pretend they are guided by these principles.

The Hate America crowd will embark on a pro-terrorist, open borders, anti-capitalism, race baiting, anti-Christian media blitz to destroy those Bible thumping, misguided patriots who still believe in personal responsibility and the rule of law.

And expect to be neck-deep in hypocrisy. This is the same crowd that will be simultaneously screaming at the Republicans to address the issues, rather than practicing the politics of personal destruction. Huh?

The Killer Question

Senator Obama is taking a shellacking. His twenty year friendship with the Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. is knocking the stuffing out of the Senator’s presidential aspirations.

The race-baiting, anti-America diatribes of the recently retired minister of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago, Illinois must have the Clintons giddy. The audacity of hope is now firmly lodged in their campaign tent.

You can believe the Clinton team is scouring every frame of the recorded footage of Reverend Wright’s sermons for Obama’s image in the crowd of parishioners. A single frame will unmask the defense that he wasn’t aware of the Rev. Wright’s hate America, racist vitriol.

On its face, this supposition is preposterous. Rev. Wright was Obama’s closest political mentor. Only a leftwing zealot would pretend to believe that the pastor’s common, public displays came as a surprise to anyone in Rev. Wright’s inner circle.

Michelle Obama’s “no pride in America” remark has now come home to roost. Rev. Wright’s words place her comment in undeniable context. It’s a fact, not hypothesis, that she is a disciple of Rev. Wright’s message. Can her husband be far behind?

The disclosure is a terrible setback for a country that was poised to mute the racist innuendo touted and groomed by the far left. A lot of decent people—Democrats, independents and Republicans—knew that he was more than a presidential candidate. He was a symbol of hope.

Even those who despise his politics were proud of his reception as a viable candidate. His delegate lead had all but slammed the door on the leftwing political concoction that deliberately, and with malice, mires the country in racial distortions.

Our nation was within inches of believing that it was free at last. What his candidacy epitomized can’t be denied, but it has been soiled.

The leftwing apologists’ only option is to blame white America for his predictable fall in the polls. They will condemn Americans for silently turning their back to Senator Obama. Expect an onslaught of revisionist history. He will be morphed into a victim of racism.

They will demand sympathy for Rev. Wright’s bigotry and blame America for not understanding and sharing his pain. Only hate mongers can justify hate speech. And hate defines the actions and words of this sordid element in America.

Senator Obama doesn’t deserve our sympathy . . . but America does. We were deceived, and that’s the real shame. Don’t blame Obama for this disaster. He is but a politician.

Had the media properly vetted him when he first arrived on the national stage, he would have had time to define a new epoch. His response on March 18, 2008 was at least six months too late.

As he walked away from the cameras, one question lingered. If Senator Obama was not running for president would he and his family still be members of Rev. Wright’s congregation?

The answer is obvious. We’re sorry and good-bye Senator Obama.

Year of the Clothespin

Senator Clinton survived the March 4, 2008 primaries and lives to fight another day. The Republicans are ecstatic. Her victories in Ohio and Texas guarantee she will continue to tear Senator Obama apart for at least another few months.

The electorate will be bombarded with variations of the Clintons’ message—Senator Obama is an empty suit. This is true, but unpalatable to the super liberals. Remember in their view of the world order ethnicity trumps gender. Thus, he is entitled to be the chosen one.

The Clintons are well aware that they lost the hearts and minds of the Hate America crowd months ago, so they have nothing to lose by continuing.

The left wingers are going ballistic. They worship Obama and want Hillary to concede the contest. And with good reason. Hillary can win the remaining twelve states and still come up short of delegates. Statistically she has to crush Obama, capturing about 63% of the votes in each coming election.

The likelihood of this happening is improbable—but possible. It’s doable because the Clintons are not afraid of bloodshed.

They are betting that their campaign message and the media’s recent focus on Senator Obama’s lack of credentials will undermine his sainthood status. Once it’s exposed that the king in waiting has no cloths, they see the rank and file Democrats abandoning him in droves.

That’s the Clinton game plan. They will spend the next six weeks savaging Obama. Behind-the-scenes they will bribe, threaten and cajole the Super Delegates.

It’s going to get Clinton ugly.

This all benefits the Republicans. If Senator Obama manages to win, he will be damaged goods. If Senator Clinton wins, African Americans will believe they were robbed of the chance to vote for a black president. They will be riot and loot angry.

The Clintons aren’t worried.

Hillary and Bill understand the black leaders will huff and puff and threaten to sit the election out. The pair will regard this backlash as a big so what? For fifty years the Democrats have purchased their cooperation with government largess. Expect more of the same.

The Clintons will fill a barf bag with treats and the black constituency will follow it to the polls like mice to a flute tune. This is the identical strategy of Senator McCain. He is romancing the conservatives who disdain him as much as Clinton and Obama. In the end he expects to win their votes by default.

So it appears that 2008 will be the Year of the Clothespin. These handy little devices will be prominent on the noses of much of the electorate as they head to the ballot boxes.

Trapped in the Primary Struggle

Any person who hasn’t noticed that Senator Obama is a gifted orator, and exhibits grace under fire, must still be hibernating. His skills trashed the most formidable political machine ever assembled, and set the Democratic Party establishment on its ear.

But never underestimate the Clintons. Their fight for convention delegates will make a barroom brawl in Tijuana, Mexico look like a church social.

The Clintons’ true colors will materialize in the coming months. They have too much at stake to withdraw with grace if beaten in Texas or Ohio. It’s not about Hillary’s vision for America; it’s about “Show me the Money.”

With Senator Clinton enshrined in the Oval Office, her husband’s speaking fees will rise exponentially. He will rake in tens of millions of dollars peddling his White House influence. And one can only guess the value of the sweetheart deals they will receive from foreign corporations.

Selling pardons, stealing the gifts presented to the nation by foreign dignitaries and exchanging strategic technology for political contributions from the Chinese will look like chicken feed. The Clintons aren’t about to give up this mega-bucks opportunity without an eye gouging, hair pulling fight.

The Clintons’ stamina, greed and lack of morality benefits the Republicans. As long as Hillary remains in the fray, Senator Obama will have no opportunity to soften his leftwing rhetoric and move toward the middle.

Nor will Senator Obama be able to concentrate on defeating Senator McCain. This was exemplified by the recent exchanges between Obama and McCain concerning Iraq and al Qaeda. Obama’s responses delighted the far left, but sealed his option to modify his Middle East platform.

Still trapped in the primary battle, Obama was cornered. He was unable to concede that if the military surge and the Iraqi government unite the disparate parties into a workable, democratic union the United States will win an incredible victory.

And that is exactly what is happening. Whether the US should have invaded Iraq is moot. But walking away from a major victory against terrorism is not. Obama is saddled with cut-and-run despite the preponderance of evidence showing victory is imminent. By November it will be undeniable. He will look naïve, inexperienced and foolish.

McCain will continue to bait Obama. And Obama’s responses will remain limited to satisfying the leftwing of the Democratic Party until he captures the nomination. Obama will be forced into corners where moderates won’t tread.

The Clintons could care less about the fate of the election if Hillary isn’t the presidential nominee. To them the Democratic Party is little more than a stepping stone to power and riches. To them the election is about the Clintons and only about the Clintons.

The Republicans can be thankful the Clintons have no honor.

Obama's Greatest Asset

Mr. Amnesty, Senator John McCain, has all but wrapped up his nomination. This is a tribute to his resolve. His near miraculous resurrection surprised us all. He can thank independents, moderate Democrats, a handful of Republicans and the national media for his success.

Expect the Republican establishment to rally to his defense. A cadre of undertakers would be better prepared for this mission.

McCain is an old, cantankerous, vindictive man, incapable of generating excitement. He will spend the months between now and November spreading a message of doom and gloom if Senator Obama wins.

His ramblings will paint a desultory defense of the principles upon which this nation was founded. He doesn’t have a vision. He doesn’t have an infectious message. He doesn’t have ardent supporters. He doesn’t smell like success. And he looks like death warmed over.

But there is a ray of sunshine on the political front. It appears the majority of Democrats are tired of the Clintons, tired of their tricks, tired of their deceit and tired of their ruthlessness. Senator Obama, the altar boy, is not winning on message. He is winning by comparison.

It would be foolish to count the Clintons out of the contest. Everyone knows that there is nothing too squalid for them to do to seal Hillary’s nomination. And nothing embarrasses them. But they are in a quandary.

Their take-no-prisoners campaign style only rehashes what the nation will again face with them in the White House. The Clintons’ scorched earth tactics have backfired. Their campaign has made Senator Obama appear noble and undaunted.

Senator Obama’s best credentials belong to the Clintons. Senator Obama’s greatest asset is the Clintons’ reputation.

Certainly, the Republicans are cheering for a Clinton victory. It takes a freight train to carry the couple’s unsavory political baggage. Obama’s delegate lead signals that a majority of super liberal Democrats, liberal independents and neighborhood Democrats concur. They no longer see a Clinton advantage.

An Obama win in the primary will benefit America.

It will signal the world that the proponents of racism—the Democratic Party—exaggerated it for decades to gain political advantage. Secondly, his win will put the Clintons in the nation’s rearview mirror. Thirdly, Senator Obama will be forced to define his definition of change.

Senator Obama is a formidable primary candidate. But Hillary’s defeat will destroy his greatest asset—the Clinton legacy. He will be at the mercy of his own credentials in the general election.

Ignore McCain

Senator John McCain is the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party. At least this precludes him from running as Senator Hillary Clinton’s Vice President.

The Senator’s nomination offers all the resonance and excitement of a water logged firecracker.

The moment Senator Obama or Clinton solidifies the Democratic nomination, the liberals and independents who voted for McCain in the primaries will immediately defect.

They have no reason to vote for a closet Democrat when they can cast their ballots for an unabashed, pro-amnesty, pro-tax socialist.

Senator McCain is betting that conservatives will hold their noses and vote for him in the general election. He is relying on their fear of Senator Obama or Clinton packing the Supreme Court with dangerous leftwing judges, and treating Islamic terrorists as misunderstood friends.

Although these fears are real, they won’t carry McCain into the Oval Office. The numbers just aren’t there. The Democratic turnout in the primaries is double the Republican turnout. Their hatred of President Bush has turned the 2008 election into an obsession.

McCain has nothing in his arsenal—including conservative support—to overcome this fervor. In truth, President Bush would never be reelected by Republicans. His lack of fiscal restraint and pro-amnesty credentials made the label “social conservative” a dirty phrase.

The President’s mandatory endorsement of McCain will only inspire Democrats and turnoff Republicans.

Of course, the die-hard Republican establishment hopes McCain can turn the election around by selecting a conservative running mate. Only a politician with nothing to loose would team with him.

The designated Vice President will either share the blame for the loss, or watch his/her reputation be permanently stained when McCain sides with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid. The Republican presidential future is dim because McCain will be a colossal failure if he wins or loses.

The recent Super Bowl suggests a Republican strategy. The Patriot team stunk up the stadium. They had no legitimate excuse for being crushed by the Giants. If the Patriot quarterback, Tom Brady, had been injured and unavailable, the Giant’s win would have been an empty victory.

If millions of Republican voters join an organization that officially refuses to vote for McCain, the Democrats will win an uncontested election. They can paint the win anyway they want. But in truth, it will be a rejection of both candidates.

The Republicans would be best served with the slogan “Forget McCain.” Rather than donating a single penny to his campaign, this organization should solicit Republican contributions to support the congressional races. This is Middle America’s best hope of salvaging its future.

A Dismal Portent

Super Tuesday left the Republican Party in a shambles and propelled the Democrats to within inches of winning the White House. The candidates’ post-election speeches clearly exhibited the tenor of the contest.

The Democratic choruses were wildly jubilant and the Republicans were polite, introspective and un-noteworthy. The Republican speeches bored voters and the Democrats’ inspired them.

Governor Huckabee seemed astounded by his wins and Senator McCain was smug. Governor Romney’s predictable pledge to continue the fight rang hollow. Barring an earthquake, Senator McCain will be the Republican candidate.

America is a crossroad and McCain doesn’t know which side of the street he lives on. While the Democratic nominee campaigns to win the hearts of independents, McCain will spend his time convincing Republicans that he is not a Democrat. Good luck John!

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) convenes in Washington DC, on February 7. Over 6,000 conservatives are expected to attend. Senator McCain will use this menu to convince conservatives that he is a worthy Republican candidate.

The crowd’s reaction should be interesting as he boycotted the affair in 2007. Just the mention of his name spontaneously raised a chorus of boos. It’s difficult to imagine he will incite anything beyond perfunctory applause.

Reality bites. Senator McCain has all the personal appeal of Bob Dole in a coma. Mr. Straight Talk will be pummeled in the fall election. The Democrats will win by a landslide.

Super Tuesday didn’t settle the Democratic race. But the economic polices of Senator Clinton and Senator Obama are nearly identical.

With the full cooperation of Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, entitlements, amnesty, ACLU sponsored judges and retreat in the Middle East will be featured. The Middle Class will see taxes soar, the terrorists heartened and the economy grinding to a halt.

The kernel of good news—McCain’s defeat will lay the groundwork for another Republican revolution in 2010 because the Democratic agenda will self-destruct. And McCain will ride off into oblivion.

We can only hope the lighted path that Clinton or Obama, Pelosi and Reid will provide the terrorists can be shut off in time.

Political Establishment Miscalculations

Senator McCain is anathema to conservative Republicans. When Ann Coulter, a correspondent for Human Events and a Republican provocateur, states she would support Senator Clinton in a Clinton/McCain contest, it summarizes the conservative stance.

She is joined by conservative radio talk show personalities, such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, in their virulent dislike of the Arizona Senator’s politics.

On the face of it, McCain’s endorsement by every national and local, liberal media outlet makes every knowledgeable conservative question his credentials. When this support is buttressed by the praise of Democratic lawmakers, his stature as a conservative is totally suspect.

McCain’s legislative record explains the conservative backlash. He has pulled the Democrats’ wagon since George W. Bush was inaugurated.

So with all these “closet Democratic” descriptions floating around his campaign, why is Senator McCain the Republican frontrunner?

The conservative political pundits ascribe his success to any number of factors, including the national polls that indicate that 66% of Republicans believe he has the best chance of defeating Senator Clinton or Senator Obama in the general election. They want a Republican in the Oval Office.

Others suggest that aged and naïve Republicans don’t understand the consequences of a McCain win. Still others state that Governor Huckabee, Mayor Giuliani, Fred Thompson and Governor Romney split the conservative vote which guaranteed a McCain plurality.

Certainly, all of the above have played a role in McCain’s year-to-date triumphs. But most importantly, the Republican establishment failed to coalesce around the only viable conservative—Mitt Romney. They have only themselves to blame.

The liberal commentators—all pro McCain—near universally agree that moderate Republicans and independents are carrying the day for him, and that the fracture in the Republican camp is caused by the lack luster stable of Republican candidates.

This is the antithesis of what’s happening. McCain’s popularity is based on the Democratic electorate’s rejection of its leading candidates. Rank and file Democrats—not to be confused with the rabid leftwing—are carrying McCain, along with liberal independents and rubber stamp Republicans.

Moderate Democrats don’t see a winning future with Clinton or Obama. McCain is the neighborhood Democrat’s compromise candidate. Their assessment is accurate and well founded. His bona fides as a Democratic partisan are well established.

In the final analysis, McCain’s standing in the polls is principally due to the middle of the road Democrats’ rejection of Hillary and Obama. That’s why the liberal media will regret hyping his candidacy to block the conservative candidates.

The Great Hope

The Clintons have bet the primary election on Americans being racist. In case anyone missed it, they began emphasizing the fact that Senator Obama is black. Who knew?

Typical of liberals, they played the race card in South Carolina. They blamed Hillary’s crushing defeat on black voters casting their ballots for Senator Obama only because he is black. They are correct. The black electorate took the opportunity to vote for the first viable black Democratic presidential hopeful.

If Senator Obama was a Republican running in the general election, many traditional black Democrats would cross party lines to vote for him.

It’s natural and predictable to be self-serving. That is how everyone votes. How many evangelicals voted for Governor Huckabee? How many Mormons will vote for Governor Romney? And how many Catholics voted for Kennedy because he was a Catholic?

The Clintons inferred that whites will shun Obama because he is black. Therefore he cannot win the general election. They submit that the Democrats will be defeated if Senator Obama wins the primary election because Americans are racists first and foremost.

The Democrats have played the race card for fifty years. They thrive on racism. They need racism. Most all their social initiatives insinuate that blacks need special protection. The Democrats need blacks to feel dependent—to feel helpless.

In truth, the Democrats have convinced blacks that Americans judge everyone by the color of their skin. The Congressional Black Caucus is a shining example of the Democratic strategy.

It’s emblematic of the Democratic “them vs. us” mentality that pigeon holes blacks as victims.

By promoting racism, the liberals have smothered black opportunity. And that is exactly what the Clintons are doing now.

If Obama is elected, the Democratic Party will be left in shambles. His election would dispel the myth the liberals have perpetuated for decades—that whites overwhelmingly reject other races, especially blacks.

Americans aren’t racists, they are realists. They judge people on their initiative, their values, their moral code, their principles, their education and their success. Senator Obama and his family are a class act. The vast majority of Americans would welcome them to their neighborhood, to their dinner table.

Senator Obama can’t win the primary race without white support. Let’s hope he wins. The greatest benefit his nomination would bring to America is stirring the faith of blacks in themselves. And that’s what is standing between all of us and the end of the race conversation.

Senator Obama is the great hope of white and black Americans. Were he not a tax-and-spend socialist, inexperienced, pro-amnesty and naïve about terrorism, he would win the general election in a landslide. And the recent Kennedy endorsement suggests he will be dragged into the bitterness of the old Democratic alliance.

Were he a Republican, this nation would flourish for eight years.

Economic Vampires

The word recession is galloping into the political dialogue. The presidential candidates on both sides of the political spectrum will soon be jockeying for the title of fiscal policy savior.

Even a hint of bad news on the economic front historically helps the party sitting on the sidelines. But this time the equation is different. On this issue, the Democrats are up to their noses in “shared responsibility” with the lingering President George W. Bush.

The Democrats won control of Congress in 2006. With the leftwing’s undying gratitude, Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid embarked on an anti-business, anti-wealth, anti-private enterprise campaign.

They blocked the Bush tax cuts from becoming permanent, kicked the AMT quagmire down the street, ignored the looming Medicare and Social Security crises and treated energy independence as an environmental stepchild.

While voicing opposition to the US trade policies, they worked their little hearts out to grant amnesty and entitlements to 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. Then they increased the minimum wage. At best, it compensated for the negative wage spiral created by the cheap, illegal labor pouring across our southern border.

In their spare time, they stuffed $15 billion worth of earmarks into appropriation bills, convened over three hundred investigative committees, attempted to give illegal aliens under the age of twenty-five free medical care, blocked an English Only amendment and surreptitiously tried to remove any reference of God from government documents.

When combined with their thirty attempts to undermine the US military in the Middle East and US electronic intelligence gathering at home, close Gitmo, turn Turkey into a US adversary, they rocked the nation.

Consumer confidence is tanking, unemployment is increasing, grocery and energy costs are soaring and the Middle Class is hemorrhaging.

Americans are alarmed and angry. It’s almost humorous that talk of a recession in 2007 put the Democratic presidential candidates in an awkward position.

Senator Clinton and Senator Obama have been clamoring for more and fatter entitlements, punishing business and federalizing healthcare. And they are pro-amnesty. Their solutions unanimously begin and end with tax increases.

It requires little imagination to see how their tax prescriptions would further cripple the US economy. It requires no imagination to see that either candidate would eagerly work in concert with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid to build a colossal entitlement constituency.

Here comes the hypocrisy of historic proportions. Within forty-five days the socialist dominated Congress and both Democratic contenders will sign on to a temporary tax cut to spur the economy. They know lower taxes will strengthen it.

The Democrats will wait until winning the Oval Office to suck the last drop of blood from America’s workers. The election of Clinton or Obama will usher in the Age of Economic Vampires.

First Victim Status

The primary campaign of Senator Clinton is flailing about because the contest doesn’t center on issues. It would be a challenge to find more than a modicum of difference between her and Senator Obama’s stances on taxation, immigration, economic solutions, healthcare or energy.

Thus, the foundation of her message is rooted in gender and Senator Obama’s is linked to ethnicity. Both are jockeying for the status of First Victim.

Senator Clinton portrays herself as a symbol—a gender model—whose election will free all the oppressed women. Her motto: “You can wear a skirt and not eat dirt.”

Senator Obama’s appeal is more subtle, “I am black, so don’t attack.” This message gives him a well honed edge in the conflict.

Bill and Hillary have an advantage in a take-no-prisoners contest. They are experts at digging in the mud. These two are masters of the ruthless use of surrogates to besmirch their opponents, and they can walk the line of plausible deniability shackled and blindfolded.

But the personal attacks have backfired. The party of affirmative action and diversity won’t tolerate criticism of a black person. Hillary is being hung out to dry on political correctness, the horse she intended to ride into the Oval Office.

She can’t complain because she used the same tactic to undermine her white adversaries—accusing them of ganging up on a little woman during the debates.

Once the mask of inevitability tarnished, the Clinton machine attacked Obama’s lack of experience. This is akin to a turtle comparing its speed to a snail.

Hillary’s credentials are at best vicarious. They’re based on being the wife of an ex-president. Her husband’s reputation as a serial philanderer suggests they spent little time together. It’s difficult to believe they even shared a morning cup of coffee. Her claim of experience is an empty bag.

Senator Obama is getting the free ride that Hillary expected. This darling, young man has snagged the hearts and minds of the national media and the other members of the Democrats’ leftwing constituency. Oh how they love oppressed, wealthy Harvard graduates.

But don’t be deceived. Hillary’s coronation by the Democratic Party is still on track. The majority of its members understand that Senator Obama is a long shot to win the general election. The attributes that have propelled him unto the national stage by the Democrats will be mitigated by their desire to win.

A national contender—even a black Democrat—needs more than a pretty face and great rhetoric to win the presidency. The candidate must have a substantive message and experience beyond a few months in the Senate.

The majority of Democrats, whether it’s just perception, or not, believe Senator Clinton has a better chance of winning in November, 2008. They’re not prepared to loose the election for the sake of defending the sanctity of political correctness.

The Perfect Democrat

It’s an established fact that Senator McCain and his soul mate, Senator Kennedy, pushed every congressional button in their quest to grant amnesty to all illegal aliens. Now that McCain is a Republican presidential contender, he dismisses his heralded effort as a mistake.

In last week’s presidential debate in South Carolina he blamed the electorate’s revolt against any form of amnesty on their mistrust of the government. He claimed—with good cause—they didn’t trust the government to close the border.

Mr. Straight Talk didn’t flip flop when he voiced his willingness to stop illegal immigration at the border. He simply acquiesced to the pressure because he wants to be president. And he is a man of his word.

If elected, he will stem the flow of illegal immigrants through better border security. Then President McCain and his friends on the Democratic side of the aisle will immediately grant amnesty to the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens already here.

Blanket amnesty will suck about $2 trillion out of the taxpayers’ pockets for additional entitlements, education and medical care. This is music to the leftwing’s ear. Senator McCain is the kind of fiscal conservative they can put their arms around.

The Democrats and liberal Independents understand this. That’s one of the reasons they will vote for McCain in Michigan and why they voted for him in New Hampshire. A McCain win undermines the real Republican candidates.

McCain’s vote against the Bush tax cuts also endeared the liberals to him. He is their kind of Republican. He now espouses making these cuts permanent. A flip flop? Not if he changes his mind after being elected.

Both his Republican supporters and the liberals see McCain as a unifier. And these same Republicans believe he is the best candidate to defeat Senator Clinton or Senator Obama in the general election.

The liberals also see him as a man who can stop the partisan bickering that has brought the country to a political standstill. But keep in mind that a liberal’s definition of bi-partisanship is the endorsement of socialism by the opposition.

What does the liberals’ love of McCain tell us?

He has a long history of pulling the Democrat’s wagon. That is why all the leftwing media outlets, such as the Boston Globe and New York Times, endorse him. The Democrats perceive—rightly so—that he is a conservative liberal.

If McCain wins the Republican nomination, nominally, there will be two Democrats running for president in the national election. His nomination is win-win for the Democrats.

On the major issues there isn’t a nickels worth of difference between him and Senator Clinton. And if history is any predictor, this surrogate Democrat will quickly fall in step with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid.

If McCain is selected there is no reason for a conservative or moderate to vote in the fall election.

A Symbolic Vote

The Iowa primary is in our rearview mirror. Governor Huckabee and Senator Obama may be closer than they appear. This will be determined in New Hampshire.

The polls indicate that 92% of Iowans who voted for them perceived neither candidate as having the best chance of winning the general election in November. This indicates the Iowans voted their feelings rather than making decisions based on cold blooded political assessments.

It appears that neither the Democratic nor the Republican Party faithful gave a hoot about the candidates’ positions on hot issues or experience. Governor Huckabee’s pro-amnesty for illegal aliens is anathema to most Republicans. And Senator Obama’s complete lack of experience was ignored by Democrats . . . a refreshing change.

So what did Iowa tell America?

Iowa is a white, well educated, Christian conclave—the silent majority. For years Christians have watched and heard the elite liberal media ridicule and demean evangelical believers. Although Huckabee is more ardent, both the Governor and Senator Obama are perceived as Christians with religious and moral convictions.

Iowans voted for candidates who publicly stated they share common moral values—they voted for men who proclaimed their faith. In the cold light of day, Iowans voted for themselves. They voted against the onslaught of Christian bigotry.

They ignored the issues and voted for symbols, not for individuals. And Senator Obama also benefitted from racial bigotry. Iowans spoke for the majority of white Americans who are fed up with race baiting, affirmative action and diversity. It was an emphatic statement.

They told the world that in the United States a man’s character, perseverance, education and principles—not his skin color—are the key factors in determining success. But don’t be misled. They voted for a symbol and not for redemption. They weren’t atoning or compensating for past injustices. That time has come and gone.

It was a loud rebuke against those who demand that blacks be judged by different rules and criteria. The refusal to lower the bar of acceptance is not bigotry; it’s the core of America’s strength and determination. Senator Obama’s win in Iowa ratified Middle America’s values and condemned the proponents of a dual society.

America is a Christian society with one set of rules. That’s the message Iowans sent. And the other candidates had better heed this message.

It’s doubtful that the rest of America will vote for symbols. The election will turn on political calculus, especially in the delegate rich states dominated by urban centers. This bodes well for Governor Romney and Senator Clinton.

Yes, Romney is a Mormon. Yet, he is the best qualified “Christian” candidate in the Republican stable with solid credentials. And Senator Clinton has the best political apparatus. The election is still theirs to win.

It's Romney and Clinton

It’s political crunch time. The media’s talking heads and writers are dissecting every nuance in the presidential campaigns. These experts, saturated in supposition, polls and sitting in front row seats, can’t decipher the tea leaves.

None are predicting the outcome of the primary election. And with good reason—it’s really murky out there. Most believe that Senator Clinton will be the Democratic contender, although the word “inevitable” is heard less and less. They all run for cover when asked which Republican will win.

It’s the shrewdness of the American electorate that has the experts befuddled. They can’t find the answer to the big question. Will the Democratic and Republican party faithful vote for their favorite candidate, or for the candidate they perceive as having the best chance of winning the general election? My money is on the latter.

In the primaries, voting for the lesser of two evils is not in the calculus. This distain is reserved for the candidates in the general election. The primaries are about selecting winners. The intelligent members of both parties vote with an eye on the independents, knowing the candidate must appeal to this block to win the Oval Office.

And never confuse the voters who register as independents with the real independent voters. The truly uncommitted constitute about twenty percent of the forty-four percent of the voters who classify themselves as independents.

The rest are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Despite registering as non-affiliated, they uniformly vote for the candidates of the same party time after time after time. It seems they perceive the non-affiliated category as a status symbol—a sign of their independent thinking. And they love to be courted.

Of course, political correctness has contributed to the stampede of voters registering as independents. This inoculates them from being associated with any of the negative attributes ascribed to either political organization.

Unless a fourth wife, or some such, appears on Mayor Giuliani’s resume, or Senator Clinton is indicted for a criminal offense, conventional thinking is that they will most likely be elected to face off in the general election. With good reason, this is a predictable outcome.

The Democrats would rather coronate a woman with fifty-percent negatives than gamble on a black man with ten minutes experience. They have their fingers crossed, hoping enough women will select one of their own sex, which will carry Senator Clinton into the White House. And it’s not a bad bet.

Few conservatives perceive Governor Huckabee as a national contender. Mayor Giuliani will win if the southern conservatives back away from Romney’s Mormon religion. The Mayor has the added advantage of being perceived as the best street fighter. But this scenario assumes that only religious credentials are important to southern voters.

Governor Romney is the best candidate, the best prepared and the best human being. He is a class act, articulate and presidential. It’s as if he was born to be President. The South will give him the nod. It’s going to be Romney and Clinton.

A Political Deficiency

Governor Eliot Spitzer (D, NY) abandoned the effort to allow illegal immigrants in his state to receive driver's licenses. His decision was a foregone conclusion after a poll revealed that 70% of New Yorkers gave the proposal a resounding thumbs down.

He would have kissed his political career goodbye if he had stuck to his “principles.” Ditto for Senator Clinton. Both learned that Americans are pro-security and are tired of having the leftwing’s agenda shoved down their throats.

Naturally the leftwing scorned the Governor’s decision to withdraw from battle. Their rebukes vilified the public as anti-immigrant and racist. This is malicious hyperbole—standard leftwing race baiting—spouted by the real racists.

In hindsight, this episode was not a political benchmark, but it should be bookmarked. Senator Clinton’s back peddling on the issue can’t be construed as a sudden conversion to a sane immigration policy. But her waffling was beneficial.

It signaled the Democratic radicals that if elected, she will bless blanket amnesty and grant illegal aliens all the rights of American citizens. Yet, she is on record, stating that providing government documents to illegal aliens is inappropriate. She walked away from this incident with a checkmark in each column.

That Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s positions du jour are guided by poll results came as no surprise. It’s obvious that her goal of winning the Oval Office overshadows every other consideration. She is an opportunist, one who is ready to say anything that brings her closer to the White House.

Don’t be fooled. Senator Clinton has core beliefs. But she is aware that the majority of Americans would reject her if she exposed them. That’s why she has adopted her husband’s strategy. It’s called triangulation, which is voicing positions on hot issues that 50+% of the voters find acceptable.

The leftwing is adept at reading between the lines. And they know where her heart is. As long as they understand that there is no correlation between her assertions and her agenda she can depend on their vote. They will forgive lies and hypocrisy, if doing so furthers the leftwing agenda.

But there is a flaw in Senator Clinton’s campaign strategy. The use of triangulation requires an attribute that Senator Clinton doesn’t have—likeability. Her husband had a gift for ingratiating himself with the public. They know he is a rogue. Their response: So what if he is a liar and a womanizer, he’s a charming rogue.

Senator Clinton is charm free. This distinction changes the political calculus. Besides not being personable, she is carrying the baggage of the Clinton legacy. And her smile and cackle can’t overcome this deficiency. In politics there is no substitute for charm.

Senator Clinton is not going to be given a pass in the general election. The majority of Americans want someone they can trust, someone with ingrained values and someone capable of uniting the nation. She has no checkmarks in these columns.

A Democrat to Respect

Thirty-two Democratic Senators and one equally treacherous Republican Senator, Pete Domenici, confirmed their membership in the Weaken America Club. They all voted against an amendment to the Immigration Bill 1348, which made English the official language of the United States.

Among those who voted to undermine our national unity were: Senators Dodd, Obama, Biden and Hillary Rodham Clinton—all Democratic presidential hopefuls. The latter, Senator Clinton, portrays herself as a moderate, mainstream Democrat.

She is a moderate if the vast majority of the Democratic Party faithful don’t believe English should be the official language of the United States. But that’s not true. The national polls indicate that over ninety percent of Americans agree that English should be the official language.

Defining herself as a mainstream Democrat contradicts her voting record. Were it true, about fifty percent of Democrats would be so far left that they would be pushed off the grid. The heir apparent to the title of Diversity Diva has a lot of trouble with the truth. In truth, Ms. Shared Responsibility is a leftwing radical.

Not all Democrat office holders are infected by the far left’s hatred of capitalism and national security. A few, just a few, know their party’s quest to encourage the stampede of illegal aliens across our borders will lead the country down a bitter path.

Senator Clinton and her radical soul mates are being challenged by Representative Heath Shuler (D, NC). He recently proposed legislation called the SAVE ACT (Secure America with Verification and Enforcement).

It’s a solid proposal which includes first class border security and targets illegal aliens using fraudulent identities. The SAVE ACT will expand the E-Verify program database, which will allow employers to verify the legal status of employees and applicants in minutes.

The expanded database will flag suspect Social Security numbers by automatically correlating them with birth and death records, state driver licenses (state certified pictures) and the employment activity attributed to a specific Social Security number. Fictitious numbers will be immediately recognizable.

The process—phased in over four years—will eliminate the lure of jobs which attract illegal aliens and close the employers’ ignorance loophole. It will save American jobs for Americans. Equally beneficial, entitlements and medical emergency centers will be reserved for Americans.

The SAVE ACT also empowers ICE to receive the cooperation of local officials, adds detention facilities and streamlines the judicial process. It eliminates the revolving door in the current system by immediately detaining suspected illegal aliens and expediting their hearings. Yes, they remain in police custody throughout the process.

Any politician who votes against the SAVE ACT will be regarded as an illegal alien accomplice. And the Democrats in Congress know it. That’s why Senator Reid and the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, will do everything in their power to keep it from consideration. Why? Because they need an entitlement dependent constituency to survive. They need illegal aliens.

Senator Clinton, a Disaster in Wait

Representative Peter Stark (D, CA), the Chairman of the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, splashed a lot of mud on our military last week. He wasn’t pleased with President Bush’s veto of the State Child Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

In protest to the veto, he stated that President Bush sent US troops to Iraq to watch them die for his “own amusement.” This was Representative Stark’s rebuke for funding the Iraqi front against al Qaeda, rather than funding health care for an additional ten million, “poor children.”

And there at Rep. Stark’s left elbow stood a smiling Senator Hillary Clinton. Her support of this fellow member of the Weaken America Club dispels any doubts about her real political agenda.

In a follow-up interview, the House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), refused to condemn the remark. Her passive acceptance didn’t quell the uproar. Thus, Representative Stark issued the following written apology.

"I have nothing but respect for our brave men and women in uniform and wish them the very best," said Stark. "But I respect neither the Commander-in-Chief who keeps them in harms way nor the chickenhawks [sic] in Congress who vote to deny children health care."

The logical extension of his apology confirms that Representative Stark respects our military, even though he thinks they are too stupid to understand why they are in Iraq. It’s unlikely his apology uplifted the spirits of our military, but it does exemplify why Congress’ approval rating is nearly in single digits.

Representative Stark, speaking for his comrades, lashed out at our military and President Bush because he couldn’t defend the content of the revised SCHIP legislation.

He didn’t want to mention that five million of the ten million children were already eligible for the program.

He didn’t want to mention that the legislation defined a child as anyone under the age of 25.

He didn’t want to mention that the SCHIP legislation’s definition of a poor child included the children of families with incomes up to $82,000.

He didn’t want to mention SCHIP covered the children of illegal aliens to age 25.

He didn’t want to mention that President Bush agreed to accept similar legislation that calibrated the age and income qualifications to levels consistent with the program’s original intent.

He didn’t want to mention that the entire exercise was a ruse to extend national healthcare to the middleclass and debilitate private healthcare.

Representative Stark is an unabashed ultra left-winger. Ditto for Rep. Pelosi. But presidential candidate Senator Clinton masquerades as a centrist. If she is a moderate, then Presidents Harry Truman and Franklin Roosevelt were charter members of the Great Rightwing Conspiracy. Senator Clinton is a socialist. Her candidacy for president can only be described as a national disaster in wait.

A Cold Chill

Last week the Democrats unfurled their secular progressive flag and planted it in our nation’s capitol. There can be no more conjecture about their Weaken America strategy. Six events crystallized their goals.

First, Representative Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic House Speaker, and the defacto spokesperson for the far left, supported regulations which would prohibit the mention of God in government documents. Although she backtracked when the effort was exposed, the incident defined the far left’s intent to rid the nation of any mention of God.

Secondly, presidential candidate, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, proposed that every newborn in the United States be given $5000. That’s what we need—a $5000 incentive for illegal aliens to cross our southern border. She also proposed that the government contribute $1000 to the 401Ks of families with incomes under $100,000, and $3500 subsidies for higher education.

Then, later in the week, she claimed she had “millions” of these ideas. We get it Senator Clinton—more entitlements, more taxes, more illegal aliens . . . the elimination of investment capital through confiscatory taxation . . . the government control of opportunity . . . the perfect socialist dream. Lenin and Marx would be thrilled with your vision.

Thirdly, the congressional Democratic delegation demanded that the electronic surveillance of suspected international terrorists be suspended unless subpoenas are granted. This would require our intelligence gathering agencies to know in advance the content of conversations prior to eavesdropping—which would require the NSA to be clairvoyant.

In a nutshell, the leftwing is demanding that international terrorists be provided the same Constitutional rights as US citizens. Why? To protect the rights of anyone within our borders who conspire with terrorists. They believe that protecting the rights of terrorists will enhance our international image and discourage terrorism—all evidence to the contrary.

Fourthly, the congressional Democrats officially announced their intention to attach the Dream Act—which is Lie and Stay Blanket Amnesty—to the current defense appropriation bill. This measure will open the door to permanent residence for about 40 million immigrants—illegal aliens and their extended families.

And it will stick the American taxpayers with about $6.8 trillion in additional taxes for illegal alien entitlements. The cost of the Iraqi War is chump change compared to this effort to grow an entitlement hungry constituency.

Fifthly, a national poll indicated that about twenty percent of Democrats believe the United States would be better off if our nation was defeated in Iraq. In response to this poll, Speaker Pelosi, and another charter member of the Weaken America Club, Senator Dick Durbin (D, IL), publicly stated that these funds used to fight al Qaeda would be better spent on more entitlements.

Sixthly, the Democrats proposed a resolution to condemn Turkey for its role in the genocide of Armenians—which happened 92 years ago. Such a resolution would only serve to drive a wedge between the United States and Turkey, a key ally in the Terrorism War.

This resolution encapsulates the leftwing war strategy: Undermine our military and the anti-terrorist coalition to speed a US defeat. A US defeat will benefit Democratic candidates in the 2008 elections. And welcome to the Weaken America Club.

No wonder we feel a cold chill. Representative Pelosi and the Weaken America Club are holding the door to our future wide open, ready to welcome Senator Clinton. The prospect of these collaborators controlling our destiny makes global warming appealing.

God Help Us

On September 26, 2007 the Democratic presidential candidates gathered to debate at Dartmouth College, in Hanover, New Hampshire. It wasn’t newsworthy. Neither the candidates, nor the moderator, nor the forum could electrify a fence.

But the horror of what they preach is beguiling.

The candidates were their usual selves. In summary, Senator Hillary Clinton cackled, Senator Edwards ignored the threat of terrorism, Senator Dodd remained a pompous blowhard, Senator Obama defined his inexperience and Representative Kucinich championed the virtues of defeat, pacifism and socialism.

Without exaggeration, and within a few degrees, they all condemned our objectives in Iraq and believe terrorists should be provided attorneys. They pledged to curtail electronic surveillance of suspected international terrorists and weaseled around Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its involvement in Iraq.

They praised amnesty for illegal aliens and promised to protect sanctuary cities and dismissed the open border crisis.

They heralded higher taxes and more federal regulation as the universal solution for all the domestic issues tabled, and pledged government control of healthcare and more and fatter entitlements for their constituency.

And they breezily agreed that tax subsidies for solar and wind power would solve the US energy crisis. Of course, they blamed President Bush for all the evils in the world.

This Democratic agenda is a broadside against what generations of Americans fought to build and preserve—liberty, national security, individualism and freedom of choice. Their platform is the antithesis of the principles that support the foundation of our nation.

During the course of this Weaken America Love Fest, these leftwing zealots inferred that their personal vision, policies and commitment to undermine America’s strength and traditional values would bring harmony to America. That’s right. They believe their socialist agenda will heal the partisan divisions.

It’s an admirable objective and could happen, if their national healthcare program mandates mass sterilization and lobotomies for the productive segment of society. And there is nothing in their progressive secular handbook that would prohibit these measures.

What is equally appalling is that they are successfully selling their betrayal of America. This raises the question: Why does anyone vote for candidates who despise private enterprise, the military, and unabashedly undermine our national sovereignty, security and our Judeo-Christian heritage?

We are at this crossroad because the ultra-leftwing has dominated our media for two generations. These masters of doublespeak and disinformation have distorted and revised our history. They adopted the tactic that the author, George Orwell, made famous in his novel, 1984—Repeat the lie until people believe it.

And they are aided by their soul mates, the equally malevolent masters of propaganda running our universities. We are losing sight of the objective truth. God help us.

The Clintons' Legacy

President Clinton was out warming up the campaign audiences for Senator Clinton over the 2007 Labor Day weekend. It sent a chill down my spine when I watched snippets of the two pretending to be folksy and lovey-dovey.

They are quite a team and have more than just greed in common. Neither is ethical, principled, trustworthy, generous, spontaneous, nor noble. Excluding gender, one major distinction differentiates them: President Clinton is an amiable, amoral Democrat and Senator Hillary Clinton is an unpleasantly evil socialist running as a Democrat.

When the Monica escapade and impeachment hit the fan, President Clinton’s supporters claimed the nation was in good hands because he could “compartmentalize.” It’s obvious how he honed this skill. The couple’s marriage is as cold blooded and contrived as Hillary’s smile. They aren’t even friends. At best they are shrewd accomplices—business partners on a quest for the wealth that springs from power.

The nation forgave President Clinton for his sexual indiscretions as his legal mate reminded most onlookers of a woman who would bring a stop-watch to bed. This doesn’t justify his infidelity. But her role playing the “hurt little woman” was equally shameless. Granted, they are immune from shame because that human attribute requires a conscience. And that’s why they’re still hanging around.

Most believe that Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton was aware of his extra-marital dalliances. Many believe she welcomed them as an alternative to sharing a conjugal bed. Only the public exposure, which threatened her political ambitions, engendered her outrage and her crocodilian expressions of grief.

Illegal campaign finance shenanigans too numerous to count, Whitewater, the White House Travel Office affair, selling presidential pardons, selling restricted US technology to China, charges of sexual misconduct, the Waco, Texas massacre, hidden documentation, disbarment from practicing law, lying to a grand jury, and walking off with the gifts that foreign countries presented to the nation are all part of the Clintons' legacy.

They truly are a pair of miscreants. They deserve each other, but our nation deserves better.

Of Lice and Men

On Monday, September 10, 2007, the Democrats in the United States House of Representatives reached a new depth of depravity. Their Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Representative Lantos (D, CA), told the nation that General David Petraeus, seated before him, came to lie to the nation about Iraq.

Ordinary Americans have come to expect little from this body of minuscule life forms. They are infectious, parasitic insects, dependent on mankind for their survival. But unlike lice, these loathsome creatures only attack our nations’ best and bravest.

Representative Lantos’ opening statement was so despicable that his staff closed his Website. They crawled into a dank hole and hide from America. In fairness, they practice what they preach—they cut-and-run in the face of adversity.

General Petraeus is a soldier. His presence in the chamber dwarfed this body of Lilliputians. He came as an American, and sat silent and taciturn, as was his duty. He never signaled his personal feelings when Representatives Lantos and Drexel (D, PA) spewed their anti-victory venom.

The General’s strength of character and resolve must have made every family, with a son or daughter stationed in the Iraqi theater, proud. He cares about his mission and his troops. His sense of honor was as apparent as his appraisal of the situation was forthright.

He left no doubt that he would not waste a life, or dishonor the valor of those who have died in the defense of this nation, if he thought the goal was untenable. His assessment and perseverance should have been a warning to the terrorists and had them cowering in rat holes.

Tragically, this national opportunity to cement our solidarity and resolve to defeat the terrorists was missed. In front of the world, the Democrats split with America and sided with al Qaeda, Syria and Iran. This grotesque display of betrayal was an outrage; and an unforgivable blemish on America.

Terrorists, worldwide, must have been thrilled and bolstered by their support. How many additional graves will be dug to bury innocent civilians, our allies and our troops because of their betrayal? The number is countless.

The congressional Democrats unholy union with the terrorists was only overshadowed by the treachery of Senators Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Dodd, Biden and Representative Kucinich.

These Democratic presidential candidates refused to condemn the blasphemy of George Soros’ proxy, moveon.org. Each candidate, individually, refused to condemn the ad placed in the New York Times by this vermin—an ad equating General Petraeus with Benedict Arnold.

Any American with a shred of pride in our nation should take the patriotism of these political lice at face value. They are an ethically bankrupt gang of collaborators. Not one placed the nation’s security above their political ambitions. Not one is worth the sweat of an American GI.

The Twitch Factor

With the exception of the presidential candidates that appeal to the lunatic fringe, the leading candidates of both parties are drumming up little excitement.

Senator Clinton is generally perceived as an invented, scripted, calculating caricature of a nice person. All believe she is intelligent, and few believe she has any moral underpinnings. She is a walking, talking Jekyll & Hyde. Senator John Edwards is an empty suit. And Senator Obama is a decent, articulate fellow, whose age and experience makes him an ideal nominee for baby diaper commercials.

Having the likes of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and Senator Reid, the Majority leader, standing in their corner, only serves to make the electorate twitch. Everyone knows they are chomping at the bit to nationalize healthcare, grant amnesty to illegal aliens, introduce new entitlement programs, expand the welfare rolls, strangle capitalism, open our borders, weaken the US military, punish the successful and lose in Iraq.

With these Democratic championed political and economic prospects sitting on the horizon, one would think the Republicans would be burning up the 2008 campaign trail. But this is not the case. There are no perceived knights in shining armor standing on the Republican podium. Granted, in terms of agendas, experience and common sense, they make the Democratic hopefuls look like pygmies.

But President George W. Bush has left a bad taste in the mouths of conservatives and moderates. He dressed, walked and spoke like a moderate conservative, but turned out to be a political chameleon. By inference, the credentials of the leading Republican contenders are under heavy scrutiny.

The shadow of President Bush is stalking Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Governor Mitt Romney. Their sudden conversion to an assortment of conservative principles seems more contrived than coincidental. Of the two, Governor Romney seems to incite the lowest “twitch factor,” but neither has a halo of inevitability.

Senator John McCain excluded himself from contention. His stance on amnesty and campaign financing informed the public that he isn’t a trustworthy proponent of traditional values. The only things left on his plate are a few more meetings with Senator Kennedy and writing his memoirs.

Senator Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich are sitting on the sidelines. Only the latter has first class credentials, but alas, Speaker Gingrich is a polarizing figure. And Senator Thompson’s delayed appearance on the Republican roster hasn’t added to his luster. He seems more like a lurking opportunist than a man hell bent on leading the nation.

After a decent showing in Iowa, Governor Michael Huckabee is the leading dark horse. He is being hammered on his tax policies by conservative watchdogs. But it should be noted that he was re-elected, which indicates the voters in Arkansas liked what he was doing. His handling of the Hurricane Katrina aftermath was exemplary. With sufficient campaign financing, he could be a real challenger.

That said, it’s obvious that the conservative and moderate voters haven’t found someone they uniformly respect and are willing to coalesce around. This dampened enthusiasm doesn’t bode well for Republicans.
