Medical Malpractice

The healthcare debate is just winding up. Senator Dodd, a practicing socialist, blamed the rising costs in the medical industry on those nasty capitalists seeking profits. The local hospitals and family physicians are part of this evil cabal.

His solution was predictable. Dodd wants congress to create a national insurance agency to compete with the 350 private medical insurers. He insists that the introduction of this option will cause the private insurance companies to sharpen their pencils.

The illustrious Senator from Connecticut and Obama believe much of the cost of such a program will be recouped by eliminating the endemic corruption in Medicare and Medicaid.

Dodd estimates the costs of these medical entitlement programs could be reduced by 30% if the corruption and mismanagement of the system were eliminated. He’s probably right.

And you will love this. He claimed that costs could be dramatically reduced (maybe 20%) if doctors and hospitals stopped ordering unnecessary tests. These words from the same weasel that refuses to cap the outrageous settlements from lawsuits that force doctors and hospitals to practice defensive medicine.

Does anyone believe that a government insurance company, run by the same bureaucrats controlling Medicare and Medicaid, would be more cost-effective? Those with a cursory knowledge of government efficiency would be inclined to double over in laughter at the suggestion.

Dodd, who directly shared and profited from the shenanigans that toppled the housing industry, understands fraud. As a participant, he has first hand knowledge of insider corruption, which makes him an expert in the field. Thus, his words should not be ignored.

Of course, using the same criteria, it would be a waste of talent if Bernard Madoff isn’t offered the chairmanship of the SEC. Madoff was the master of ponzi schemes. The difference: Madoff confined his greed to mostly milking fat cats, whereas, Dodd has his sights set on duping every American into signing up for second class healthcare.

Dodd reluctantly admitted that about 20% of the cost of private healthcare premiums is used to subsidize the uninsured and the government underpayment of services. Federal bureaucrats in Medicare and Medicaid set the rates they will pay medical practitioners for services rendered.

Their tables of payments are based on the government’s “budget,” and its power to bludgeon the medical profession into submission, rather than the realistic cost of services. The rates paid by the privately insured keep the hospitals and emergency centers open. It’s a hidden tax.

Dodd’s scheme is fairly simple. The premiums set by Dodd’s government insurance company will be substantially lower than those offered by private insurers. Consumers and businesses will sign up for the government plan to save money.

This will drive the private insurers out of business, as they won’t be able to compete with the US Treasury. Within a few years the government will control healthcare. Without the inflated premiums of America’s productive workers and companies underwriting the actual costs for medical services, the government bureaucrats will ration healthcare.

It’s Dodd’s refrain to this Ponzi scheme that brings doublespeak to a new level of hypocrisy. He keeps reassuring Americans that they will continue to be able to select the doctor and hospital of their choice.

He neglects to mention that the quality of healthcare will rapidly decline, many hospitals will be forced to close and the incentive to be a doctor will be eliminated.

Here’s a healthcare solution! Try Senator Dodd for medical malpractice.

Rats in Charge of the Lifeboat

The trillion dollar bailout proposal didn’t come with an apology from the government. That’s what angers the nation.

Until the Republican revolt in the House of Representatives, it appeared no one in Congress had the guts to say the proposed legislation didn’t solve the problem. It was a cover-up that exonerated the guilty. The Senate version passed last night was cut and run for cover legislation.

The $700 billion solution only served to continue the Democrats’ con started 31 years ago. To ingratiate its constituency they used selective statistics, collected by entities such as the Boston Federal Reserve, to prove the existence of institutionalized discrimination against minority borrowers.

The Federal Reserve had reported that the percentage of approved loans was lower for minority applicants than for their white counterparts. The evidence was indisputable. However, the credit unworthiness of the minority applicants, whose requests were denied, was omitted in the public report.

The Democrats ignored this fact. They blamed the lopsided, mortgage ratios on racial discrimination. This public hoodwinking allowed President Carter to sign the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) in 1977.

The Democrats didn’t lie; they distorted the truth to subsidize the collateral of risky borrowers with de facto government guarantees. In effect, the CRA eradicated ethical standards for lending to correct a non-existent injustice. This was touted as Equal Opportunity Lending, which officially rebuked sound banking principles and inaugurated the era of no-collateral lending.

HUD, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were honed to encourage lenders to participate in this charade. Mortgage originators were given a license to steal, and steal they did. Twice the Bush Administration asked Congress to reign in this pillage. Rep. Barney Frank told them not to worry.

When the housing market (fueled by sub-prime mortgages) cooled, the toxic paper couldn’t be hidden by Barney’s friends. The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of July, 2008 threw $300 billion at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to continue the charade.

Not one paragraph in this legislation tightened the lending practices that produced the need for this bailout. Worse yet! This legislation funneled taxpayer money into militant, leftwing advocacy groups, such as ACORN, to promote the rape of the US taxpayers.

The failure of Fannie and Freddie dried up these Democratic slush funds. That’s why Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and Frank buried hundreds of millions of dollars for these outfits in the small print of the $700 billion bailout legislation.

So don’t be deceived. The rejected $700 billion bailout was never intended to reign in the lending practices that created the financial meltdown. It was a $700 billion taxpayer subsidy for no-collateral loans. It blessed the status quo.

Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and Barney Frank should be jailed for treason. And the executives that deliberately betrayed the public trust, or by omission, should be banned from the industry, if not hung.

And Obama? His association with Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, Tim Howard, Bill Ayers and ACORN isn’t happenstance. These are his allies. These thieves financed his ascendancy to promote the distortions that empowered and enriched them.

Of Lice and Men

On Monday, September 10, 2007, the Democrats in the United States House of Representatives reached a new depth of depravity. Their Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Representative Lantos (D, CA), told the nation that General David Petraeus, seated before him, came to lie to the nation about Iraq.

Ordinary Americans have come to expect little from this body of minuscule life forms. They are infectious, parasitic insects, dependent on mankind for their survival. But unlike lice, these loathsome creatures only attack our nations’ best and bravest.

Representative Lantos’ opening statement was so despicable that his staff closed his Website. They crawled into a dank hole and hide from America. In fairness, they practice what they preach—they cut-and-run in the face of adversity.

General Petraeus is a soldier. His presence in the chamber dwarfed this body of Lilliputians. He came as an American, and sat silent and taciturn, as was his duty. He never signaled his personal feelings when Representatives Lantos and Drexel (D, PA) spewed their anti-victory venom.

The General’s strength of character and resolve must have made every family, with a son or daughter stationed in the Iraqi theater, proud. He cares about his mission and his troops. His sense of honor was as apparent as his appraisal of the situation was forthright.

He left no doubt that he would not waste a life, or dishonor the valor of those who have died in the defense of this nation, if he thought the goal was untenable. His assessment and perseverance should have been a warning to the terrorists and had them cowering in rat holes.

Tragically, this national opportunity to cement our solidarity and resolve to defeat the terrorists was missed. In front of the world, the Democrats split with America and sided with al Qaeda, Syria and Iran. This grotesque display of betrayal was an outrage; and an unforgivable blemish on America.

Terrorists, worldwide, must have been thrilled and bolstered by their support. How many additional graves will be dug to bury innocent civilians, our allies and our troops because of their betrayal? The number is countless.

The congressional Democrats unholy union with the terrorists was only overshadowed by the treachery of Senators Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Dodd, Biden and Representative Kucinich.

These Democratic presidential candidates refused to condemn the blasphemy of George Soros’ proxy, moveon.org. Each candidate, individually, refused to condemn the ad placed in the New York Times by this vermin—an ad equating General Petraeus with Benedict Arnold.

Any American with a shred of pride in our nation should take the patriotism of these political lice at face value. They are an ethically bankrupt gang of collaborators. Not one placed the nation’s security above their political ambitions. Not one is worth the sweat of an American GI.
